  1. 1/ Genshin Impact is a sexy product right now : it attracts a lot of attention and is desirable for its customers (gacha)

    2/ Genshin impact is a luxury product vitrine : if we compare the mean cost to acquire a new 5* and the average income worldwide (about every continent with a lot of players in Asia, NA, EU and maybe less in Africa)

    3/ As for every luxury goods, there is an alternative :
    – counterfeit or other illegal access to the goods, here being 3rd party vendor, even though I suspect you don't accuse region changing through VPN (currency manipulation, which is also against ToS) because you know content creators doing so
    – substitution, like a product (game) without predatory practices

    My view on this, I find it normal that people want to acquire the brand new shiny trophy that every content creator is directly or indirectly advertising. Content creator now using disclaimer in front of their video is being narrow minded at best, hypocryte at worst:
    Consuming a product and telling others "yeah I keep on consuming it BUT i will keep on teeling you how bad it is" does practically nothing for sensible customers, with the urge to get the product, and even reinforce the will to get the said product for some.

    Of course it is their ultimate responsibility if they choose to acquire the product through legal or illegal ways, thus suffering the consequences.
    And yes, I understand content creators needing to get over the issue by using disclaimers. But does it clear all their ethical responsibility in the process of advertising the product, that I can't agree.
    Finally, making money and pricing products, at a price where you still have consumers to get it, is their right for Mihoyo, at least in a liberal view. But using gachas predatory techniques in order to do so, especially when the video gaming industry press is calling you disruptive, sounds just as bad as every other gacha editors.
    This topic is nothing but easy, as it is now a matter of prohibition in several countries.

    TL,DR: responsibility on this matter is shared across editors, influencers, consumers. As for now and in most countries, legaly it is only the consumer responsibility. As you mentionned some countries (Belgium) has decided that it was the State responsibility to protect its citizen against it.

  5. thanks for speaking about this. it's never a bad idea to occasionally take a step back and make sure you're not getting too swept up in any kind of gambling entertainment. it should also be mentioned that these types of games intentionally make you feel like you're inferior or missing out to keep you spending money to "keep up" so it's not your fault if you feel that way

  6. In Singapore, these third party topup methods are everywhere. People that don't or yet to have credit cards will resort to 3rd party vendors if the game doesn't offer other transaction methods. While there a few vendors that are genuinely legit, it is safe to assume that those cheap 50% discount sellers are just scammers that use stolen cards. They can be found everywhere on carousell and shopee (basically ebay and amazon), and often times they have high ratings. Then, for people that are just looking to topup, they stumble upon these threads and they think it's clearly a win for them so they give in. After a certain amount of time, they get refunded by the vendors and big oof, they are now in debt. But hey if you don't have a credit card, you're probably not earning enough money to apply or not even at the legal age. Gambling addiction is real. Please listen to our number one scammer Atsu.

  9. The only thing I am going to say is: I will 100% never charge in my native currency (Euro) and let my american friends charge on my account instead when I need primos/BP and so on. Why? Cause I wont pay 30%+ more than my american friends are. Simple as that cause Euro-Prices in genshin are a god damn scam.

Thank you guys who pointed this out to me but it turns out Genshin videos are littered with countless ads for these 3rd party vendors / "cheap gems" – if you ever see any of these ads please ignore them, if you would like to go a little further please report them too. I'm sorry I missed this completely. I have YT premium so I don't see any ads and was completely unaware to this poor YT advertising, so shoutout to everyone that raised this point!

  20. Another suggestion/point of advice is to not charge back google and apple. When DBZ Dokkan Battle came out, I knew a lot of peoole that got shut down. Just overall, I think gacha games do need to be approached similarly to casino games across the world.

  26. i lost my 50/50 on xiao banner when i waited for him for months, 112 pulls for nothing. i am still sad about it and i cant afford to buy the pulls and i can see how these scams can definitely get to impressionable young kids that are mad that they didnt get their favore character. thankfully i have a lot of self control and i dont have this issue (i might buy the top ups legally if by the last day of the banner i dont get him) but children and even just kind of irresponsible adults can be so easily manipulated :/ gacha games CAN be dangerous. honestly as soon as you start feeling its getting to you it is a good idea to take a break

Well I definitely don't think the cost of gems is at all worth it for Genshin(which I think most of us can agree with), and it's definitely high even for some Gacha games I've played, I think this is one of those situations where if you can't afford it, then you are better off not getting it. It can suck sometimes to not be able to get a character you might want, but at least you can still play on your account. There will always be other characters down the line that you can get, and characters will come back around. No point in risking your account. Also, don't think you'll be the one who will get away. We've seen how Mihoyo gets after leakers, so you aren't going to go under their radar.

  29. Can we address the fact that Mihoyo "micro payments" are not micro? I understand using these services. I think the cost of the gatcha far outweigh the return of the Gatcha. And I understand that this is their business model, but the business model would still work if prices were halved. This is just ripping people off, especially if you take a look at the avg. age of the players.

  32. i think trying to get free primogem with hack or through 3rd party , is perfectly fine as long as you don't cry after you get banned.. You're not really hurting anyone but yourself.
    If people are stupid enough and can't even control themselves in front of a videogames, there is not much you can do about it.
    Im a free player, and sure i would love to pull the units i like, but Gatcha games are for 3 kind of people:
    Rich player.
    Lucky player.
    Patient players.
    If you don't belong to these categories, you're probably the one who bought gem or used hack, because you can't menage the game AND your own behavior.

Amazing video, reminds me of why mtashed had to create a new F2P account because he was overspending and he thinks he made lots of people go broke because of his whaling, these kinds of comments always come a few days after a new banner is released because even whales question themselves after spending thousands to get a C6 CHARACTER, yeah it's never worth it.
