I run this thing on my Series X everyday & I absolutely love it! My 1tb SSD T5 can just sit in the corner & await use on the Series S when I get one of those for my PC monitor.

  1. I'm in no way affiliated with WD I genuinely like the product & am very impressed with the speeds/storage capacity. If I run into ANY issues I will update this video accordingly. I know a more viable test would have been for me to plug the external T5 SSD into the Series X & download Wildlands and test it that way but I was to lazy. Trust me when I tell you it worked about how it did on Pro. I originally had the Samsung T5 plugged into my Series X it just wasn't enough space & Series X enhanced games won't work on that either even though it's an SSD. I'm sure it will work on PS5 as well I just haven't personally tested it.

  2. Great video.. Just bought a new pc and need space for games and coming ps5. I found some of the wd and without external power supply. Check if you find them near you. Its 122 euro for 5tb so nice things.

  3. That's the one I've got on the PlayStation 5 it works fantastic definitely I didn't want to have to have a power plug so I went with a 5tb vs an 8tb or 12tb but yeah this drive kicks ass

  4. Yo solid. Om using the official ps4 external 1tb hard drive and bro, 35 games installed playing to perfection on it. Elite hi speed hdmi & award winning 4k tv helps smoothing all things out max!

  5. CPU can be a major factor in performance of USB transfers. It's far easier to bog down the 8 thread Jaguar core CPU in the previous gen consoles than the 8 core/16 thread ZEN 2 CPU in the newer machines. If not being held back by CPU issues, the best price performance in an external you're going to get is a good 2.5" SATA SSD. Thanks to the roomier form factor, you can have 2 or 4 TB a fair bit cheaper than with an NVMe M.2 unit while still capable of keeping the 6Gb/s SATA connection fully saturated, which means it will be held back by the USB 3.0 port's max 5Gb/s (including overhead). The NVMe drive can be more compact but that is the sole advantage, as the performance is largely wasted on the Series X/S. Microsoft chose to stick with USB 3.1 Gen 1 at 5Gb/s, believing that external SSDs weren't going to become dominant any time soon due to cost vs. capacity. Sony, OTOH, chose to support Gen 2 on their USB ports, allowing for 10Gb/s transfers if the drive is capable. This makes it even more baffling that they don't allow native PS5 games to be offloaded from the internal SSD. Compounded even more by their slowness to approve any devices for the internal M.2 port, thus making it a pain to have a PS5 if your ISP imposes data caps.

  6. The only caveat here, and correct me if I am wrong, you don't get the benefits of the enhancements to the games that the Series X provides. So it is only the speed, and not the bump up in frame rate or resolution to the games(old and new) stored on that aa opposed to the internal hdd or the expansion memory.

  7. Because the new consoles have better drive support like a pc. I’m guessing that drive to a pc Would yield the same times or close. PS4 pro has ssd support but nothing compared to a pc. Mine has an internal 1tb ssd and external 4tb, ssd wins by far……. if you can afford it
