Because obviously what a game that's hemorrhaging players because of how grindy, boring, repetitive, generic, and tedious it is needs is more grind.

They are just shelving it, but in a way that let's them "save face" a little. Instead of disconnecting the life support they are cutting off the hospital's power little by little.
This is similar to Anthem "fixing" it's "broken" drop system. Lets take away the fun from the game, that makes total sense.
Ask Square Enix what they are doing.
Even as a die-hard marvel fan, I was skeptical from day 1, and this continued colossal failure reinforces why my skepticism was quite appropriate
This game is dead and they know it. They just want no one to play it so that when they cancel the roadmap like Anthem, no one cares same they don't get sued.
At this point I'm convinced the average person watching this video could arrive at more sensible decisions than most game execs.
These game developers are just digging their own graves.
They are just gearing up for a full shutdown and monitzing in the meantime
They don’t do this for the fans they do this for them ..so they will keep this bullshit going until all there fans walk away
They’re trying to revive their dying game… so they think to add a new superhero… and they decided on Hawkeye?
It's almost like game companies go: "Okay, so we have this game we need to only BARELY keep alive until we start shipping the DLC and expansions! What's that? It's already dead. Dressing up the game with fancy new colors and DLC won't bring players back? NONSENSE!"
Why do they do this? Why do they expect people to wait 6 months or more with a boring and grindy game, and then expect them to just wait patiently until they bring you some new content?
It's like someone selling you a house, only for them to not tell you it has neither running water or electricity, but if you just sit tight with what you already got, they will get on that in around 6 to 8 months… You need to be a certain type of special to allow them to do that to you, and if you are like 90% of gamers, you will have moved on to another game and never looked back… You know, like what people did with Anthem…
I wouldn't be surprised if they started selling xp boosters to recouparate their loss
Square Enix is basically EA that gets a free pass because "Final Fantasy"
"Boss! People enjoy our end game combat!"
"Oh no! Abort! Abort! ABOOOOORRRT!"
Games like this really make me worry for Halo Infinite
Marvel's Avengers wasn't a great game, but it also wasn't all that bad of a game. Repetitive? Absolutely. But still a half decent game. The biggest problem is that once you complete the single player, there's nothing there to incentivize you to keep playing. And that, in a nutshell, is a major problem with live service games.
They are just trying to extend game time artificially.
700 is more than i expected from this game actually
Marvel's Avengers. sigh I keep reinstaling this game every 3 weeks or so hoping it will be fun but it never is any better.
awarded faster….? more like people wish to play the game with all skill unlocked. imagine paying and playing an action /fighting game but u can only use 4 or 5 basic moves at the beginning. better just play MMORPG
I bet sony regrets paying for that spiderman exclusivity.
It's pretty embarassing that there are only 2 super villians in the whole game (not including Modok but I don't think you fight him outside the story mode).
THANK YOU! please nail in the coffin for this to make it Anthem 2.0. Live service failures should never be accepted
So they didn't make a sequel to Deus Ex: Mankind Divided because it didn't sell well enough, so they moved onto Marvel Avengers and now it's not doing great either. Hopefully that means potential Deus Ex Sequel?
Man… People still playing this game? What next, Blockbuster still a thing?
Golden Rule of Modern Game Developers;
"Never make your game too rewarding, keep you playerbase on the grind… "
EA
Why Is this game still going?
Seriously, why?
Based on the numbers, I see absolutely no reason for them to continue bothering with it.
How is a live service game supposed to survive with an average of 415 players?
They defly tryin to get ppl to play before the 18th…smh
Expect a spike when Spider-Man gets released and then it gets even lower than now. xD
