Did the title really just say 'PS5' or am I seeing things? Lol
I thought northridge said ps5 hdmi pins are too far over leaving the left pin unconnected
1) Why had the hdmi port failed on a console that's only a couple months old? 2) Why has it not been returned under warranty?
Apu should be good as the components are protected with a acrylic conformal coating or similar.
Great to see the inside of a ps5 shame itβs not a working one yet you will get there with the ps5 bud
Check psu
Wow, PS5 repair already!
Anybody else see that face on the desk just under the tweezers π³ from the start.
I love my PS4pro but the more teardowns I see of the PS5, the more I think it's a bodge job by Sony. So many things seems half arsed. not impressed, I don't plan buying one soon.
about the amount of liquid metal, there are alot of videos showing how to apply it and the amount, gamers nexus has alot of content, if not enough der8auser has that too, and he is one of the owners of the company that makes that liquid metal called thermal grizzly
when you cleaned the cpu it was clear all components were protected against the liquid metal because they have a resin over it so is not necessary to remove that par
just clean the liquid metal if you don't feel comfortable reusing the one already applied
I thought I went to the future, checked the date and nope Iβm still in 2021. Wild
What could it be??? Yes u scratched it from removing the cover
Love the video brother we learning these new consoles together
Haven't seen a teardown video of PS5 Digital Edition anywhere, by any chance if you get to repair one make a teardown video of it.
Also a comparison of motherboard between both versions of PS5.
Very cool phill and we can see how careful you are with customers goods. Unlike some.
At the time 45:58 minutes. They are a cluster of vias. One of them look likes it could be missing.
Only a fool would dislike the myth, the man, the legend, TheCod3r.
When taking the liquid metal guard off of the APU I saw at least 2 small blobs of liquid metal splash onto the motherboard.
Thanks for the video Iβve learned the hard way never to purchase 1st gen PlayStation or Xbox I always wait for the refresh Itβs the same with automobiles for me
great video m8
Best way to remove liquid metal is a empty liquid metal syringe then get the rest off with ipa and q tips.
Gotta be honest I'm curious how the hdmi port got damaged to begin with. Obviously these things can happen but just dang. I can't help but think it would have been better for them to send it into Sony for repair. Even if it would have been out of warranty due to the damage. That isn't to say you're unqualified obviously. Only that with how new the system is there's just not much documentation of what goes wrong or even where power rails are or values of any caps/diodes/etc. What a mess and what a champ you are to try and figure it out!
Here's hoping the 5 doesn't turn out to be a bitty to work on. Would be nice to not need to worry about my own failing.
Do not FEAR the Power of Supply! most of the faults are capacitors, diodes and mosfets. Ocassionally it can be the optocoupler which is a bit of a troll to diagnose but other that its straight forward. Good video π Also! Start logging good and bad readings and symptoms it will make life easier in the future and you could help lots of other people too.
Nice video mate fingers crossed you find the problem ππ»
anyone else saw the two slashes of liquid metal one by the hdmi handler chip and one top right of the main chip ?
Check the USB ports, if the owner tried smashing the cable in the wrong way it can bend the pins to touch the outer case of the port causing the exact same issue
The liquid metal should be spread with the cotton swab included in the thermal grizzly package, you need to apply just a little drop and start spreading it and if it's no enough you can add a little more. Same on the heatsink and you are good to go.
just wondering if you can advise, I have a Xbox one modern warfare edition that when you connect a known working power supply and power up the console it beeps and causes the power supply to light up red. So wondering where I can start probing? any comment you can give is much appreciated.
Will most likely be the power supply Phil
Hope u manage to get it going when are u doing a follow up video be interesting to see if u get it going
Ayyyyyy it's about time!
