Video games are typically associated with enjoyment and having fun, but we can still get frustrated with them. I talk about why games get us so frustrated, why we tolerate it and all the different ways this frustration can occur.

I am not easily frustrated, but I would say I really dislike it when shooters take all your powerups away when you die once.
This may sound stupid, but I’m frustrated by games that are too easy. I’ve played games that had a lot of potential, but aren’t fun because there too easy. It’s more of a new game problem.
Retrobird's philosophy on how to actually enjoy retro games is great. The balance between frustration and perseverance can be tricky and it's explained really well.
I get so frustrated when i play any shin megami tensei game
also i found your channel like a day ago and i already watched half of your videos!
keep up the good content!
The ending of Sonic 1 always frustrated me as a kid. After months of trying all you get is "well done now do it again and get all the chaos emeralds" 😂
Cuphead
Frustration when you forgot to save back in the day
If you think Zelda is hard as a puzzler, try indiana Jones or sword quest on atari!
The toilet paper add-on is necessary for the true gaming experience
All modern FPS….lol
These videos are pure quality!! Keep up the great work
Hi, off topic IK but I am a younger retro game fan (born in the year 2000), and I was wondering if you could do a video on people interested in games older than they are
I would seriously consider animating an actual red bird and have your voice come from it. I think it would be a great addition instead of showing yourself.
A lot of retro games fustrate me and the only way I've found to not get frustrated is to go into a game without the intention of beating it. That way I've found myself getting to the end of Golden Axe and very close to the ending of Streets of Rage.
Yep lol. Both!
The friend that get mad over you butting mashing lol really good video.
Speaking of enemies with very annoying patterns, in the past few weeks I've been very frustrated playing Quake on N64, because of the most infuriating enemies I've ever encountered: https://quake.fandom.com/wiki/Spawn
The first turtles game on NES. Still haven’t beat it. Made it to the technidrome and usually down to one turtle lol.
I think 2 player co-op games can be hard on 1 player mode because they were intended to be played by 2 people. If you've ever played Chip and Dale on NES, you may remember the last conveyor belt before the final boss. That spot is hard because you have to throw 2 boxes at the enemy while struggling on a conveyor belt with a low ceiling making it hard to jump. I beat it with save state, but later I realized that spot would be easier with 2 players throwing boxes at the same time and taking out enemies quicker.
@2:00 😂🤣😂
& 8:43 brings to mind “serenity now” Seinfeld flashbacks 😂
Also, for any retro arcade fans, especially Gauntlet types, I just picked up Battle Axe for my switch yesterday and it. Is. Phenomenal!
A tad pricey and arguably a little short, BUT the game is absolutely outstanding in my opinion.
Love the channel. And that's gotta be the best outro song ! Haha so good. 9:05 🎶
I'm all for hard games but how many of these retro games were made harder because of rentals? Which brings up another question, if they were made to be harder then what the devs intended, is it all right to cheat?
Lots of great points! What comes to mind is losing all of one's powerups when you die, Gradius style.
