Resident Evil Village might not be a multi-dozen hour game that takes you on a globe-trotting journey, but it uses its runtime very effectively in more ways than one- even in terms of secrets, which are just littered all over the game and begging to be found.

I'm just waiting for us all to start figuring out what's up with The Duke. Like seriously… He is probably THE most interesting character in the game. He seems to know everything, gets to impossible places, seems to give Zero fucks if he pisses on the 4 Lords and Mother Miranda. Seems to fear nothing. And nothing ever comes close to him to attack. He just sitas around enjoying life and earning his coin. + He can't really explain what he even is. He just…. Is… I mean you could say the same for the dude in RE4 i guess? But he has less character. He doesn't seem to actually tigh into the plot in any way. He just shows up when you need him. The Duke however is a character that actually does explain things to you. Seems to allways have the answere for you. And he has had interactions with other characters in the Village. The Duke is a character in that world. He is massive. And i don't mean that as in just fat. I mean, the guy is tall as all fuck. Probably not much shorter than Lady D. And when ever you return from an area he'll reference it…. Despite having not actually been there himself. But yet, he knows what you just did. He knows whats up with Rose. He just knows… Is he a Bioweapon? The tittle of Duke is higher than Lord. So he is higher ranking than the 4 Lords. And chances are he isn't one of Mother Miranda's creations. So who is he? What is he? I fully expect Capcom will never answere it. And i think that's for the best. These types of characters long therm end up being the best. They can be anything you want them to be. And i guess that's what they intended with him. Speculate away… You make up your own story. It's often better than what they could tell you themselves.

There's a reference to Luis Sera from RE4 at the beginning of RE:Village involving a rat inside a wardrobe. In RE4 you find Luis inside a wardrobe and if anybody remembers Salazar referred to Luis as a rat.
Salazar: " I have to chase down a couple of rats."
Leon: "Two rats? If one is Luis, who's the other? There's an intruder besides me?"

I've noticed that, RE8's save room music is the REVERSED version of RE4's save room music(Serenity).
Another RE4 reference is in the end credits.
RE4's end credits details some of the Las Plagas's history, so the same is true for Village's end credits.

Don't know if anyone else noticed this but whenever you're riding in the boats, listen closely and you'll notice that they reused the audio from 4 for when the boat is moving. Just thought I might point that out

Theres a toy train set, with two blocks in one cart and a longer block in the second cart. Makes me think of re zero, two blocks being rebecca and billy, and the longer block as the scorpion

As soon as I played through that I instantly knew it was referenced from re 4 opening sequence. These are pretty basic things for fans and not actually secrets. Get it right my guy
