Well then, this video is a doozy. Last year I made a video talking about The Problem with New Champions, and I thought about making a followup video after watching Skooch’s (https://youtu.be/8izzKdGNzNw). Four new champions have been released since then: Rell, Viego, Gwen and Akshan. I think you can guess my thoughts on this video. New champions are completely out of control.

"what the point in giving so many resets?" Well the 1v9 pentakill highlight gets really boring if you have to wait 4s between every kill
That Akshan w description is a big exaggeration tho xd
The reveal radius is huge so it's pretty much a roaming tool to avoid wards and the ms and mana regen is only towards scoundrels( because of that he feels extremely slow when invisible since every single other champ with invis gets bonus move speed for free). Also the trail and ms range is not global, but just enough to run from mid to bot/top
im glad sylas dont heal 100% of his life on a point click skill anymore
I think Aphelios is the only human male champ to be fully covered up since Jhin lol. I get they're trying to make their men more appealing to another audience but men can be attractive in ways other than shirtless.
Miss fortune is only playable building full lethality and playing like a s5 nunu wanting for enemies on bushes
Honestly, because of the crazy overloaded nature of the new champs, I've been playing the game a lot less. It feels like my favorite champs, which are older, are useless comparatively. It puts me off of the game.
On the bright side I have a lot more time for other things, so I guess thanks Riot?
Gwen is such a weird name to give even tbh. It is fitting for the last boss in dark soul 1 not some blue hair anime girl.
anyone else really like the way vars says samira?
I glad you made this video again cause what.
Yah skooch have told us abou this but because the rant if skooch, they dont like to understanding, to think, and just talking without any hearing from lesson cause skooch video ia all about to are this champ is garbage or op not balnace. Because skooch always do that with a voice taht really push, the rant will be skooch, but with godamm spices, always want change but cant leave the old oje.
Thank you youtubers like you sendiri it to your subs that more understanding then skooch, thank you
3 words, 💸💸💸
I'm currently trying to learn Nidalee because I really like her desgin and kit – but it simply feels so unrewarding if you always get fcked by Viegos or Dianas in the Jungle – shure I'm also far from beeing a good Nida player and she is a hard champ to play but it can't be that ppl who simply abuse the meta get more rewarded than someone who is really trying to get mechanically better…
I definitely feel this. Back in early season 8-9 I mained Sion, Warwick, and Vi. Now none of them feel like theres any reason to play them when I can play Viego. NGL I still guilty pleasure play Shyvvana and Skarner because sometimes you need to turn your brain off and jungle on, but I was a Kayn main before viego showed up and viego just outclasses kayn so hard it feels ridiculous.
Viego has an easier clear, better early skirmishing, better ganks, and better teamfighting. His only downside? Worse Out-Of-Combat mobility. Which just plain feelsbadman. Like I loved kayn, but he has such a high skill floor and needs to be played to his strengths in teamfights, viego just gets one assist and pentas. (No joke in my last 5 viego games I have had an 11.8 KDA on average with viego which is both disgustingly consistent, and any small lead snowballs so hard on him).
Kayn on the other hand, was such an uphill battle to get that early lead when he even loses 1v1s to shyvana and evelynn. And teamfighting was brutal because once you burned everything to get the backline kill, you needed to already have a way to get out of the fight or your stranded and dead. Viego just grabs a new body and keeps on slugging.
Straight up I'm a silver newb so take this next bit with a grain of salt, but: I have 60,000 mastery on Kayn and I have been a Karasmai sub from the very start. I know all the tricks and the best clears, and I can push leads for those 27 kill games. On viego I have about 14,000 mastery points and I carry so much more often, and it's so much easier to do I just don't even know why I bother with kayn.
It honestly feels like kayn wouldn't be on par with viego unless you just picked his form at level 6 regardless of what has happened up to that point AND your ult reset on kills and gave you a heal.
None of this is to say kayn isn't an awesome champion, but after all the season 11 nerfs and new champions, it feels like maining kalista. Like the difficulty>the reward. Where as viego is like maining Yone, Too much reward for the difficulty
GWEN DASH EXTENDS AA RANGE, extremely valuable in lane.
"When you break the rules that you set for *your own game*…"
Hey, anyone else remember when they changed how stealth works to make champions more diverse or whatever, and then the very next patch they announced Akali, who proceeded to break all the rules they had just established and had her own special kind of stealth that ignores turrets? Good times, good times.
game changed starting season 9.. from 2019 till now, champions are all bosted for no reason.. they only care for money, not the playerbase
In Akshan's favor: I think his base kit is fine, but I could remove one thing or two and add something. For example, you shouldn't be able to trigger the shield with e, just the damage(and it should be mitigated) and you can't absolutely have a finisher that both heals you, triggers bonus damage and shields you. What would I add? The same way Akshan can find scoundrels through his trails, you could find Akshan through his trails. Think about it: playing like an ADC assassin, thinking of ways to flank while trying to move around bushes or taking long detours to mislead the enemy team while they search you, adds counterplay AND interactive gameplay. Riot nowadays tries to implement interactive gameplay but it just comes to "I have this one gimmick that YOU, my enemy, have to work around to beat me while I can just focus on having fun" I have to be taking notes of where Yone came from to follow when he Es back, I have to take notes of Viego's mist and resets, I have to take into account how many repositions Gwen have with her w, if she hit anything after she Ed, etc. It's always THE OPPONENT who has to go the extra mile. Taking bad ults and grievous wounds against Sylas, you know the stuff. And y'all will say "But Ismael, they have to work around your gimmicks" Bullshit. How many gimmicks you have to work around with Jhin? Traps and the bounces, but I, as Jhin, have to take account of my bullets, how will the grenade bounce, where to set my traps, etc. My champion has gimmicks that puts a challenge and rewards me when I overcome those challenge, that's what good and fair gameplay should be.
At least this super overloaded champs except Aphelios are not having good result at the long run with very low winrates
You should really place your captions and pics in the bottom-right, game renders camera movement considering minimap/champ bar in the bottom/right side of the screen, if you put them in the upper left you can't see the fights you use as backgrounds.
I feel as though 1. Riot intends to take the game in a direction that is more similar to urf, and 2. Creating champions to potentially counter a previous counter they had created is good design philosophy as long as more counters are constantly made, or they are countered by champions already currently in game. For yuumi, I would argue Miss fortune being a good counter due to e slow and w grievous wounds
i love skooch
17:05 you just described Smite in a nutshell
I main Aphelios, & even im struggling to understand these champions.
At least with Aphelios, he’s MEANT to be complicated with a bunch of simple concepts (lifesteal, range, slow, AoE) thrown together & you have to figure out how to manage them all together to be efficient.
I don’t want to read & watch a bunch of videos to understand how to not let Gwen deal my whole HP bar to me before I can even flash away.
At least with Sett I know ‘man go saiyan then I run before he does 1200 true damage’.
disclamer: genshin in not pay to win. you can beat everything with the free chars, and its not that hard to get a 5 star char, even tho i agree that the prices are WAY too high.
Mhhhhh not if you kill em early and don't feed them ^_^
Still waiting for all my enchanter supports to get an execute added to their kits, cause why the hell not, Riot?
your content is just awesome
I feel you man. It’s almost defeating the purpose of playing the game for fun. Why should I go back to main Vayne or Jax if everyone has a shield, healing, becoming untargetable or can dash 50 times in one fight. It just makes the meta game even more narrow and one sided that it should be. Reasons why I either will keep playing norms like a pansy or just quit LOL all together. Don’t forget adding the hyper toxic, “you died once or your hank failed once and now I need to flame you all game because it’s GG” community that League has become
Akshan over here with a 46 wr
League's peak was in 2013-2014 everything already started falling apart since s5 worlds
Riot.does not give a rats ass about counterplay literally no fucks given. Look at invisibility. Their entire design philosophy is how many new things can we add to make pro play look more exciting while reducing skill expression to make the game easier for the few new players they have
new champions are not strong old champions were simply OP, old jax dodge attacks, kayle AOE autoattacks with better ulti than tryndamere can be used on allies, twisted fate global teleport and money flow, kassadin flash every second with high damage and tanky against AP, zed strong outplay potential and crazy range, blitzcrank hook and you are dead, old nidalee her Q can 1 shot you, ryze still to this day riot rework him lol, old champions were so OP just see old league videos.
its not a conspiracy. they are absolutely making over kitted champs to sell them. and just forgetting completely about old champions. unless ofcourse an old champion somehow gets in the way of their new shiny toy because of some indirect item balance, then riot will nerf said champion into the ground.
funny enough with all this extra shit it even harder to understand how to counter champs
Riot just needs to cool it on the 20 ability champs. A passive, and 4 abilities with a passive on each, and then an alternate effect, with an extra buffed effect. Look at Vi and Malphite. Vi’s w is a second passive with zero active. Wow that’s fun compared to Akshan’s multitude of bs. And Malphite’s w has an active and a passive….an auto attack reset and a buff to his shield, so complex
I really start to think that this is a bad idea to join riot (irl working for the society etc) they are too many games dying like this one, actually like vars said, I love yu gi oh and I don't want to watch the new serie or play the new cards, AT LEAST I can play old cards but in this game you can't play old kayle, you can't play old aatrox, you can't play as a noob without a good friend to explain you the game. They are champions that have been completely forgotten look at Corki, man this poor guy looks like shit compare to Aphelios (I'm sorry if you main him I am worse with Illaoi I can't play Oldtrox anymore) or even Tryndamere his gameplay is literally right click and knowing every matchups nonono better nerf Aurelion don't worry 200 years, this game is really frustrating, and events are even worse but this isn't part of the """real game""" right how cares about odyssey.
This is an amazing video!
Tbf lol has become so simple yet so complicated at the same time, most characters are not complicated yet some aspects are unnecessarily complicated.
Look at how the talent system works on HotS, so much better, your character's kit is enriched with something specific to it not just random shit from itemization like in league, i am really glad i quit this trash af unbalanced game after 9 years of playing it.
Diana is extremely easy to counter, it's only because people are so absurdly bad at simply avoid her Q a 800 range spell at max range, yes that's how bad they are, failing for one of the most telegraphed kits in the game.
Most champs in laning phase will destroy her in every way possible since she is setup for failure because of how mana intensive she can be in order to compete staying to farm.
Wanna counter her W simply walk the direction she is walking towards you, and you will have her miss her 3rd W sphere's damage and shield refresh.
Her E? Pathetic damage, even when being reseted you know who she will use it on, blast that terrain or avoid going there or use zhonyas, you make her a useless brick that will deal zero damage, then nuke her and say goodbye to her nearly instantly.
Her ult? Flash it, bait it, use movement or tanky champs or build tank if you can, but most importantly don't stay close to your allies if you know she can use it.
Basically a cock roach's level of intelligence is needed to counter her.
Now I'm excited to read a whole chapter of a book of Vex's [the upcoming new Champ to be release] abilities.
Maybe that 1st chapter is only one of the passives to her unique passive's passive. Maybe they could start producing their own books at this point onwards.
wait, how dose he know where i live?
2:46 Insert old "Better Nerf Irelia" joke here The old Irelia was op compared to other champions not because of her numbers but because she had a ton of stuff in her kit (only a below average for modern league but a lot for back then). Numbers can make a champion op but the ability to use those numbers is way more important because you can buy items to make up for the numbers, both base damage and scaling numbers.
Edit: You so perfectly word many of the problems that caused me to stop playing league pretty much altogether (except to hang out with friends once in a while), and I just wanted to say thank you for saying to a hundred thousand people what I have wanted to say but had no platform to for years.
13:15 Hot characters simply sell more skins, that isn't really a conspiracy theory as it is something that is just in the statistics. I am honestly more surprised that they didn't turn Urgot into a hot anime guy that is just "misunderstood" than the fact that Riot has become a for profit company rather than a game company that also tries to earn a profit.
15:45 Gnar enters the chat Ranged, Melee, Tanky, Dps, Assassin, Mage oops wrong lyrics. (For anyone who doesn't get the joke it is an old LoL song by the Yordles called "The Legend" and it is about Lee Sin and how he had way too many roles that shouldn't be all on one champion.)
"Having respect for old content" is an amazing way of summarizing the problem.
ive been saying this for years and everyones laughing at me
i guess i am not a famous youtuber so people can agree with me
Qyiana Q reset… Her w does it and thats another spell
