For a quick summary of our thoughts, we found the game to be good in the sense that there’s a solid main story, a beautiful world-aesthetic/art design, and cool characters with some neat side quests. However, because we all played through picking different choices, we quickly realized that the game underdelivers when it comes to player choice & consequence, as well as the idea of ‘living’ in the game. Cyberpunk 2077 does not give the player that much agency, and you definitely can’t ‘be anyone’ or ‘do anything’ in the world. You are V, and you play V’s story. That said, it’s worth stating that we had a lot of fun playing this story and enjoying the different playstyles on offer.

Cyberpunk 2077 is a 2020 action RPG developed and published by CD Projekt. Mike Pondsmith, the creator of Cyberpunk, was a consultant during game production, and actor Keanu Reeves has a starring role. The player assumes the first-person perspective of V, a mercenary who has three different life backgrounds for the player to choose from. The game takes place in Night City, an open world area set in the Cyberpunk universe. As the player completes quests and levels up, they can develop their abilities in hacking, technical skills, and various melee and ranged combat styles.

  1. Its not an rpg…they took the tag away plus we only have few options to chsnge the ending…Its sad cause ur choices means for shit…played 100 hrs and lovee it but this was a very barebone game and 90% opposite of the narator script….total lie.

  2. So Keanu being shoehorned into this game is the reason I had to watch a sex scene with a woman in her 80's?

Because yes, Rogue, Kerry and all of Johnny's friends are probably about that old.

Totally agree on the loot. Pointless, detracts from the game. Clothes should have been for looks only. I also think a Militech pistol is a Militech pistol, mass produced to a spec, no levels, no quality tiers.

Have the RPG elements handled by mods.

  3. I just feel like the past few months, it’s been obvious that the game was like destined to disappoint lol. Like so many people were talking about how it’ll revolutionize rpg and all this but wasn’t it obvious to everyone that the hype was getting way out of hand?

  4. It takes hours to get to a point to where you can actually role play. And even once you get there the Johnny silverhand story stil takes hold everywhere. That’s what kills the game for me

  5. I'm so glad people are finally picking up on this. Even if it had no bugs, the marketing was lies, there is barely any choice at all, and seeing how they found that save file size is capped, apparently even looting, crafting and playing the same character for an extended time are things you're not supposed to do because your file will be corrupted and can't be salvaged and it will happen to everyone eventually if they just play the same character long enough. This game is missing so much and is just a mess right now, it's like paying to test the game for them.

  6. When playing through The Witcher 3, doing side missions felt like a choice. Go to a message board, pick your quest, find the person, barter on payment, do the thing. I didn't feel like I had any choice in being a merc in Cyberpunk. Get too close to the wrong area and your phone starts ringing. "Hey, you happen to be near a thing that is SUPER important and I need you to do it right now KTHXBAI!" Feels more like being led around by the nose, some other quest trying to jerk you away from whatever you were actively doing at the time.

  7. Sorry, gonna have to hard disagree with this video. Call me a fanboy all you want but I don't believe CDPR did anything wrong with this game; as Bethesda fans, we know all too well that games like this are going to have bugs at launch and it's inevitable. Furthermore, the writing in this game is beyond brilliant and I don't agree with ANYONE that says this isn't a great RPG or open world game.

Game of the year for me, EASILY, and at the rate it's going for me (I'm really taking my time to enjoy things properly), it'll end up being one of my favorite games of all time. It lived up to every single bit of hype that I had for it and then some. Does it have some technical issues? Absolutely. It runs pretty poorly on my PC and it's frustrating, but I'm willing to be patient and wait for them to really patch and optimize the game because I'm enjoying it so much. It's a masterpiece, through and through, as far as I'm concerned.

  8. The problem with Cyberpunk 2077 is that gamers are spoiled narcissists with delusional ideas on the "possibilities" of content, coupled with greedy, uncaring corporate publishers willing to push broken games out for profit. The gamers and publishers deserve each other.

  9. Sadly I agree with everything. They forced the first person because of "immersion" But I dont see any other immersion in the game…no drink-loot-grab-eat animation , run animation (when u watch your shadow) is a crap… Npc Ai and behaivor is horrible the whole city is a neon shell nothing more.. I not feel this game or the city has any soul…

  10. I literally finished this game 3 Days ago in 100% in 72 h on hard and I am not proud of our Polish developers with results and I hope for some big expansions, best would be for cdpr if they were free. Sidegigs are mostly well done, and omg romance with Panam feels the most realistic from any game, but this games still has a big road ahead.

  11. Cyberpunk would have been really great if it had been pitched the same way the witcher is, where there are maybe some choices, but ultimately it’s Geralts story, and you’re just along for the ride.

  12. The game isn't an RPG, but it is the best execution of non Deus Ex Machina alternative tragedies I've ever seen… You get to pick your tragedy… What principles or values are most important to you? Living at all cost? Family and love? Giving a friend a second lease on life? Fulfilling a promise or dream to a friend who didn't make it?

You can't have them all, only one, and because of the nature of each decision it's poignant how much you lose for picking the thing you value most…

The only thing I would have changed is making the "living at all cost" actually let you live for real… You can "kind of get that" in that you don't die, but it's very technical in that sense. I would have liked to see an option which had you sacrificing all the mercs at Afterlife, Johnny, the Aldecaldos, and your principles to work with the Corpos, and watch everyone else get slaughtered in your desperate effort to cling to life… And you succeed. You get to live in a world where you killed everyone you love, and destroyed everything you lived for, broke all your promises, and forsake all those who died before you in exchange for your life… THAT would have been the ultimate "Living at all cost" ending instead of the "where's your mind" ending.

Other than that though, while I agree with the video, I think the nature of the tragic ending was extremely well designed in this game, I just would have done that one part different.

  13. They've committed so many deadly sins of open world gaming like not being able to continue the game after the story is finished or getting players hyped up for content that only appears during a specific mission and is never seen outside of that mission again.

  14. Well, I'm glad I didn't watch or read any of the promotional material over the years. I'm having a great time with Cyberpunk 2077 on PC. The bugs are few and far between, the graphics are amazing on my RTX 3090, and the gameplay is a lot of fun.

I can't say that the game didn't live up to the hype when I didn't keep up with any of the hype in the first place. It sucks that they dropped the ball with the console versions, but I personally have no complaints, and I'm sure the game will be improved and enhanced even further over the coming months.

  15. I kinda saw this coming as a game developer not to sound cruel but im glad they didnt have all the stuff in the game means there is still an experience that people are longing for. I think next game they work on should be shush shush until its ready. Like an Apex legens release. Out of the shadows bam we have a product

  16. even though i really enjoy the game it still doesnt beat witcher 3 that bar for them cant be surpassed. I like the story and missions but i wish they did more with rpg elements i wish they had the bloody baron type of quests where my action did affect the world in some way maybe i can hope in the dlc's that will come out but who knows. Overall great game but missing alot of feature that could of made in an amazing game.

  17. Yes! these are the true issues in my opinion. I was hoping for an open world full of immersion and possibility for freedom of choice like they promised us. Honestly this game has just made me lose trust in games like this. hopefully something new will come out with these features eventually

  18. I have played through the game once now. It's fine. Reminds me why I never buy games for full price. This game would be a lot better if I got it for 50% off in 6 months time. An okay and fine experience that eats up 30 hrs is good, but not for $89

  19. Never been more excited for a game in my life and it turned out this way just a bummer through and through can't say the story wasn't bomb tho. That being said I'll probably never let myself get this hyped again.

  20. I played this game on my NextGen PC Series S (5600x, rtx3070), and I didn't encounter any game breaking bugs, just a few mostly funny glitches, and I following the main campaign while doing side missions was the best time I have had in a game since I cant even remember when. My only gripe was the AI being lacking. It wasnt until after I had beaten the campaign and most of the side missions that I started goofing around nd noticed how poor the AI actually was and how lackluster the police AI is. This game is a an 8.5/10 from me, but this game had the potential to be 9.5/10, which in my book would make it the best game in its genre ever made.

  21. Another example of how toxic crunch is a red flag for a bad game. If they were doing this for eight years why would they need crunch? Because they were not and the game is an absolute mess no wonder they postponed it twice. Gonna save my money until post launch for this company going forward.
