Today we are taking a look at the Apex Legends problem. Apex Legends matchmaking and specifically, the Apex Legends skill based matchmaking has been really brutal for the past long while. Is Apex Legends in trouble? I’d love to hear your thoughts on this and if Apex Legends SBMM is broken. I don’t think its the worst ever but it does feel like the fun has gone away lately. Hopefully Apex Legends matchmaking gets a little lighter and we can feel a bit better about this. I again don’t think Apex Legends bad or anything but I just wish Apex SBMM was not quite as… strict.

I don't think Apex is really in trouble but I would be lying if I didn't say my enjoyment has gone down some. I think my main problem is the fact that we have such strict SBMM when we already have a ranked mode. What are your thoughts? Come let me know over on the Twitch! https://www.twitch.tv/timprovision
Im 3 months into Apex from Warzone. Day 1, we got 5 wins. That was by far the easiest I've ever felt playing a BR. Fast forward 3 months now and my pubs consist of Lvl 500 players with kill counts in the thousands. Im still trying to learn advanced movement mechanics…etc WTF happened lmao
Games need Sbmm otherwise casuals we’re mixed with Preds and diamonds every game.
So the casuals find new games and the preds , diamonds and gold s fight the same people with Sbmm.
My friends have the exact problems and it feels like they dislike the game more and more, imo this game lacks a baseline mode so a mode with more lives, less loot and solo on the same map.
I'm a casual and I get overwhelmed with looting, different map rotations, team composition and little to no actual gun fight experience.

I hate the matchmaking. I play since s1 and always get new players under lvl 50 when the champions are preds and cracked. I hate to say that I getting tired of it and the matchmaking is 70% the problem, more than servers issues.
And yet, I also feel like Apex’s SBMM is fundamentally broken. My friend tries to play for the first time the other day. Hasn’t played a shooter in years, but they wanted to get back into it. I purposefully didn’t join them so as not to drag them up to my level. Even so, they were paired with level 150s and 200s and was killed by level 300s-500s in all 6 matches they played. They’ve refused to play since.
The MM has gradually been wearing me down – I play less and less matches each season. It’s not even remotely balanced. Feels like 19 games full of sweats then an easy lobby (which isn’t enjoyable either). I have a feeling that if you are middle of the road skillwise (ie not at the extremes of being bad or cracked), you aren’t having a good time. I love this game but I get no fun out of playing it 🤷♂️
The system of skill base is fine! The sound in the game is not. It’s almost like getting in a fight impossible as half of the map will come and third party
Well said bro
Bug with apex packs giving out better odds. Fix that shit instantly games basically broken charge more money for stuff that's bugged so you can't actually have them attached. Getting beyond a joke been playing fron the start I'm so close to just ditching this
It's still fun, I enjoy battle Royale, I just don't want battle Royale to take over all multiplayer gaming. Apex legends is very versatile and the team based play makes it a lot of fun. I think it could be a lot better if the meta was interchangeable with more modes avaliable as well. I know that respawn won't be adding pilots to this universe, but a nerfed titan ult would be really cool. Even if a solo and 4 man squad option was added it would change the way this game can be played so much. It would be a blast having a 4 man squad of diverse legends all playing into each other's strengths and also having a free for all where you find out just how skilled you are as a legend individually.
Despite starting in Season 6 I reached Masters and can hold my own against most players. My issue with SBMM is I get teamed up with beginners against 3 stacks of predators. Especially in Arenas.
I had to make a new account because I just couldn’t deal with the games I was put in but after I reset I started having fun again but as soon as I hit around level 13 my games took a turn and I feel like I shouldn’t be in the games I’m in with level 150s with several hundred kills and honestly it’s becoming less and less fun
it can be fixed by looking at team fortress 2, when lobbies were by choice, and noobies can get their occasional wins by critting with dumb luck, instead of losing until the matchmaking feeds them a win.
People have said this about every shooter on the market at this point. Casuals are not really rewarded in shooting games, just like fighting games
i 100% agree with you on the topic, tim great vid as always (: thanks
Tim i can get into Ranked for some reason im in Singapore servers and it says im the only one in queue how do i fix this
This is the new video I’m going to bed watching , it’s good to know I’m not alone
Apex is still enjoyable, but yeah being a lvl 80 going up against lvl 300 and above.
I also have the same feelings as you guys right now. I used to feel really mechanically skilled as a solo Arenas grinder, then two months back I got signed into a roster for Apex comp. On a daily basis I get humbled by these players in scrims. I've felt like quitting many times. The main reasons not being losing but
1. I'm south African and I don't foresee Africa ever getting a server and competing on 220ping eu as your best server can be painful
2. Many Times in game 3 or 4 either myself or a teammate will crash (it didn't bother me much before) but when you have to practice 7 hours a day and put other aspects of life aside, it can be extremely tilting.
3. The bugs in the game are constantly getting worse, code leaf, code show, code snake… aswell as potatoe servers
4. Rn I can't even play the game as I got hit by a bug where my game won't even load, i don't know if I'll be able to fix it before our tourney on Saturday (letting my team down)
5. All these reasons have made me want to quit many many times, so if you feel that way just realise, it's normal and you're a human being. We have our ups and downs and so will any video game. If you truly love something, you will stick with it and hopefully with Time they will get better.
I hope this comment helps anybody out there feeling low about themselves and their relationship with the game ❤we're all gonna make it guys
True
Yeah, I've definitely felt the wrath of SBMM. I'm an average player of apex that has been playing for two years now. Yet,while I get why I'm not with new or inexperienced players, Everytime I go into a match the top group is lvl 500 + people with thousands of kills. More often then not, these or similarly better skilled players crush me. It's not enough to quit. I'm still having fun. But going into a round and dying because I have level 20 team mates going against level 500's is depressing.
In my opinion the stereotype about new players coming to the game and being stomped and make them want to quit is bs they use that just so they can “RIGG” your games it’s crazy and your skill means nothing
nice video, honestly i been playing since day 1,i get put into lobbies with players like Shiv and stormen as soon as i get a good game,i understand SBMM too and i wouldnt complain if my ping wasnt averaging 300 when these streamers have less then 50.love apex to bits but the servers make even trying to play pointless
The worst part is being in the middle because SBMM doesn't know where to put you; You're not good enough to compete with masters/preds and people with hundreds of hours in the game however you're also not new or, and I mean the in the nicest way possible, god awful at the game. Every pub lobby you enter you get new/bad team mates who dc when they're downed and leave you in constant 2v3/1v3 situations. I'm not asking for pro level team mates, just people with my skillset/level.
