  1. Just about to smash the button for Tryndamere to get a vgu. I actually like the first three. Especially Skarner. I do not want to see him heavily change. Poppy, Voli, and Fiora are all characters that I used to love, but now… what I loved about playing them is gone.

I see people calling for a full year of reworks in lieu of new champions, but I'm really glad they're not doing that. Because I love playing Skarner as he is and he's clearly near the top of the list. The reworks ruined Poppy, Fiora, and Voli for me. Which was especially frustrating in the case of Poppy, because I had only just gotten into playing her.

Multiple reworks in one year instead of new champions means not really anything truly new to get excited about and potentially a lot of players disappointed in their favorite character becoming something else entirely. Volibear was my first jungler and now I have pretty much no interest in playing him. On the other hand, Samira reignited my passion for playing this game. If that year had his rework without the introduction of Lilia and/or Samira, I might not even be here in this comment section right now.

I think we all have a few characters that we would love to see get reworked. At the same time, I don't think there is one rework that came out without disappointing some players who main that character. I know I've heard a whole lot of grumbling about Akali from classic players, but I personally never understood her pre-rework, and love the way they changed her.

I'm really happy that it's happening for Udyr(I've been wanting that since I started playing back in 2013) and I'm glad to see Tryndamere on the vote this year. However, I would be surprised if there isn't someone who has been playing/loving Udyr for as long as I've been painfully underwhelmed by him and is really worried about how much their favorite character will change this year. Similarly, my heart would sink if I saw Jax on this list.

I think holding a vote in an attempt to gather the best impression of majority opinion on who needs a rework is the best way to handle this. I could definitely get on board with at least one more vote per year though. My position is a bit different if we're talking purely visual reworks, but a vgu tends to be a lot more than just visually modernizing the character.

  2. I know that the vgu work tends to be focused on the needs of the many over the few. However, if any devs are reading this, I would like to repeat that I love playing Skarner. Even when the game is going badly, I have a lot of fun diving in as the speediest tank after Rammus and dragging away helplessly frozen enemies to the tune of Skarner's maniacal cackle. I can't say that I play him a lot, but I can say that I enjoy it every time I do.

I was reading the champion update page and I love the way it talks about what you would do with Shyvana, but I'm a lot less jazzed about the complete overhaul suggested for Skarner. I know, if push comes to shove, my opinion here probably means very little. That said, I still want to voice said opinion that, If the character he is now completely ceases to be, I'll be pretty sad to see him go.

I imagine it'll be a similar experience to seeing Poppy and Fiora reworked. In which case, I'll probably be down for the visual side of the rework, but be bored to death by the rework of the ability kit.

  3. I have an idea for a new enemy:

Ok but imagine a demon like fiddlesticks that instead of feeding on fear or lust fed on happiness and hope. Sure fear is easy to produce and escalate but proper hope/happiness is so strong and fulfilling. Imagine a demon getting traveller's to trust it maybe even giving them aid following heros and building a good reputation. It can even oppose fiddlesticks making its reputation even greater..
They shall flock to it like sheep to the slaughter looking for help some calling it a God. So relieved and hopeful that they found it so happy to finally make it. The joy an relief rising in there face to see it inly to be eaten. There will always be the determined on perilous journeys, always the hopeful among the oppressed, always happy children playing. Only to be eaten.
The cynical creature slowly building trust with its small group of traveller's secretly eating some of those they help to stay full while keeping the heroes happier and trusting more, even keeping the peace amongst the people in those groups. They go missing which is normal for groups on dangerous journeys right. But no one questions if it was someone in the group the demon they fought along beside and protected.
What would a demon like that look like? Would it be distinct like fiddlesticks? Or would it look like you, me, and the rest of the characters in runeterra? Does that new member maybe seem a little too happy, little too keen on keeping the group together, says things of long ago, seems ancient, a little wrong, just a little off. But no matter keep inspiring hope traveller's keep making people happy be happy yourselves until you reach the end in your "friends" maw.
