Honestly, I can relate with Clow on this. I was working on a mod of my own for nearly a year. I started out as a fan who loved FNF for its creativity and funky community. I wanted to put my hat in the ring with a fun mod that had a good story and great music. All the while, I kept tabs on all my favorite mods (Vs. Sonic.EXE, FNF Lullaby, etc.) and seeing how they're doing.
However, I began to focus so much on the online life that I forgot about real life, the life that actually matters. I debated with folks on Reddit over things that didn't mean anything in the long run, I was paranoid over my personal image and how it could be damaged so easily online, and I let myself become so dependent on feeling happy online without finding joy in reality.
This, combined with seeing FNF mods getting cancelled over drama and my mod taking much longer to be finished, led me to feel jaded about being in the FNF modding community, especially since most of the really good ones have been either delayed, quietly cancelled, or radio silence altogether due to the state that the Funkdom has been in over the past two years. I took myself out of the moment and looked back on the life I had in the real world and thought, "What the heck have I been missing all this time?". Sure, I might've met some good folks along the way online, but that is overridden with the paranoia I had about them because I don't really know them at all besides what they say.
In the end, my mod was made in a playable demo after 11 months. I was glad it got finished enough to be playable, but it was bittersweet as well due to roadblocks and stress. I took it as a learning experience to not be so obsessed with the online life and try to balance it with real life and its needs. As of now, I've started work on another mod, with all the experience I learned throughout my time as a fan-turned-mod creator.
TL, DR; It's fun to be online and hang out with folks, but it's also important to take care of personal things in the real world and balance them out. Try to focus on the positive things in life, and don't worry so much about personal image. And finally, understand that the folks who make stuff like this also have a life of their own, and so it's best to give them some space when they're going through hard times.
