Weirdly enough, that's one of his special powers, which is pretty much Sonic's "Spider sense". Whenever the danger approaches, he senses that and sneezes. I recommend watching a video The "Sonic Sense" from Badnik Mechanic about that, because there's quite a lot of nods to that power of his in certain games and other media.
