Not sure if chara was honest about this, but during their dialouge they stated that BF has retried many times in order to get to that point, so it could be possible that BF was given the chance to revive if he lost multiple times before the song ended, but probably not since chara should have found him anyway if he lost
Edit: Just realized Matt went through this too, though in Mattโs case, he couldnโt remember BFโs resurrections until he went into his stronger transformation. So maybe the last part could be scrapped, but still far from correct

hmm, well, it does sound like well you see the green knife? when chara noticed that bf copyed it, chara went for the spare, meaning that unless chara wanted to go really serious, chara needed to trick bf, and well, falling for this trick is actually believable, a lot of people fell into this trick by sans first time, then why not bf would be tricked by it? the real problem was that bf didn't use any other green knife after the first one, that's one of the reasons he lost, the other is taht chara wasn't exactly serious, chara's experience in fighting is way more than bf could catch on in just that amount of time, he was adapting to do it better, but just like matt did the new form out of no where, chara did the trick and also could have gone more serious using more of battle experience because bf retryed a lot in the beginning, and actually i do think is available to point that even a single more retry that in this case happened because of the trick, chara would find out the place to end it completly nonetheless.

And I Think That Chara Knew About That Echo Stand Because His Stand Fought Them In The Battle Just Like Chara's Stand Did, So Chara Used It To Kill BF.
