This video will be a class guide for the Warlock class in Baldur’s Gate 3, specifically the Great Old One patron (subclass). I will go over building your warlock from your racial choice, to ability scores, to spells and combat tips. This build is pretty powerful. The only pact boon currently in early access in the pact of the chain. More BG3 videos on the way, subscribe.

  1. Love this class, but I can’t wait to try out some other subclasses and pact boons. Do you guys think we will eventually get hexblade? ⚔️

  2. right atm great old one has no lv1 feat, unlike fiend which gives you dark one's blessing (temporary hp when dealing the last hit on an enemy).
only difference are like 2 or 3 spells. in the book great old one warlocks have telepathy but idunno if they implement that or how you would implement it cause it is very not video gamey^^

  3. I made a half-drow great old one warlock. Errybody was like "The fiend gives temp hit point shield!" Which is cool and all… but Tashas hideous laughter..? Dissonant whispers doing psychic damage? Those spells are fucking savage.

  4. Isnt the fiend a strictly better option for the subclass bonus over the great old one? All the great old one seems to offer is the "funny" hideous laughter spell, while The Fiend offers stackable HP on each killshot

  5. A someone who plays on console + grew up with the Forgotten Realms lore, it breaks my heart we aren't going to be seeing this game on console. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we'll see this game ported onto next-gen consoles over the next few years! I will enjoy someone's playthrough at full release, but it doesn't compare to experiencing the game yourself.

…and yes, I know — "JUST GET A PC" (not wrong lol but still want to see it on next gen consoles like the PS5/Series X)

  6. 22 seconds in and this guy's already giving bad information.

the fiend subclass for warlock is the only one that gives you a patron boon, that being a temp HP on kills = to your cha + caster lv.

the great old one only gives you access to more cc oriented spells.

  7. Assuming its in the game the perk of hold person over tashas is paralyzed enemies you get crits on when you hit. When your party rogue crits every round against the target at 9th level it can get pretty brutal, and it scales better than tashas in that it adds targets as the spell level goes up, so at 9th when your slots are 5th level spells hold person might be holding 4 targets. In the current game of levels 1-4 that part doesn't pan out much.

  8. "i wouldnt recommend true strike though, as it requires concentration"
personally i wouldnt recommend true strike because its the laughing stock of 5e, why wait to roll with advantage on a specific target on your next turn when you can attack them on both your current and next turn normally?

on a side note, another great thing about the imp familiar: it is resistant to nonmagical damage, so that 10hp is more like 20, making it a good tank. Very good for an expendable summon

  9. I like the Githyanki for Warlock because you can use long swords, 2h swords, and medium armor. toss in some armor spell and you have a warlock tank. you could do the same with shield dwarf. my devil site didn't work with a gith.

  10. To the Fiend Warlocks, unlike 5e you can cast Hex with your bonus action and Scorching Ray with your action for 9d6 damage. Hopefully they change this because casting a spell with your bonus action and another non-cantrip spell will make Sorcs extremely OP.
