Cyberpunk 2077 News Updates – So it appears that Cyberpunk 2077’s E3 2018 demonstration was very much faked. In addition, the game was more realistically supposed to come out in 2022. Plus, more on the actual development nightmare.

Sounds like they have great management in their company
Demo is not what is used to be, now demo can be about showcasing in-game engine or an inspiration. Its not alpha version anymore, been like that since dlc was in trend. I believed someone in mgmt or investors really sell the idea of "can expand with dlc" or "improve game with patches" so convincing that april launch was announced, after that they know they f*cked up and delayed the launch, fans totally went berserk and want no delay, so in the end everyone got what they wanted which didnt meet their expectations. In the end the winners are the haters bcos they got to milk every ounce of this fiasco. Tl;dr, cdpr cave in to investors and angry fans to release an unpolished game, it came back and bite them in the ass
Imagine next news, The Game itself was fake. "The Game will self destruct in 10 seconds"
This just reminds me of the whole Destiny thing not Anthem lol
They'll make it right, they got some good funding i bet with the "early" release in one year it'll be great to play, anyone mad about that is honestly is another entitled gamer, dont buy the game if you're not happy with it, they offered refunds digitally and physically.
I always laugh when these guys complain about over time. Try working a real industrial job that you do 7/12’s and do manual work. Bunch of cry babies. Currently on 12 hour shifts to get a customers product out on time.
They should have just gone with the third person game model. Hopefully they'll learn from their mistakes for future games
Edit: Assuming this Cyberpunk mess doesn't bankrupt the company
It is a big difference! That you didn't know something that would happen, and didn't listen to the words of the devs…. or you fucking knew and understood everything, you just didn't care… because of more then 8 million pre orders! That's it…. but they want to make you believe that the first thing happened! Pleeeease… yeah right! 😀
Wow so many lies and deceptions coming out of cdproject red, they rebrand as the decepticons!!! I'm sure they would fit in that crew nicely
Sounds suspiciously like what anthem went through
Feels like Anthem but a lot worse😭
Yeah I actually got my refund for this game. It’s a shame because I was excited for this and stuck with it for two weeks, but after hearing all the news and things that devs were confirming, I couldn’t support it anymore! The game also wasn’t exactly what was advertised; the AI wasn’t even AI, the graphics look very downgraded compared to the “demo”. I can say I enjoyed the story from what I did play but other than that, it lacked the depth and “next generation” gameplay that was so highly emphasized
Pass, the damage is done. There just going to lie more
Let's all sue them for lying to us and selling us the wrong product
I hate the first person cutscenes it's so out of place and why I created a character if I can't even see him!?
Don't really care. Things from two years ago don't mean anything and this mission in released game works the same way, so it's good. That's the thing with demos – they're demos, specifically made for a specific event or purpose. I've worked in software creating companies for over two decades and this is nothing new. At times you need to put out a demo but the actual software is not yet there. It's "ready" in general but it's not functional. So, you make a "mock-up", a demo, which shows how the real thing might work but it is not real thing. It is made for one specific purpose only, for that single moment only and once that moment is over, so is that demo. It's scratched, deleted. It fulfilled it's purpose. Final software may be similar, or may not and that's not even needed, as demo is only a functional show, not the actual show.
So in short, "that's how demos are done".
Need to fire the D-Bag that came in and switched up everything.
Also makes no sense to show the game in 2012 and wait 4 years to start on it.
I didn't keep up with Cyberpunk 2077, I honestly kept forgetting it was even a thing because of how much time was going by.
I got my copy from gog and outside of some graphical glitches I haven't had many issues with it.
Needs some love though.
Interesting how you're 'now' having BioWare deja vu. I've been feeling that way since launch. Development companies creating hype, raking in massive pre orders, then pushing unfinished products out, just to say 'we'll fix it later', is hurting the industry at the expense of their customers. And we, the customers, just keep helping them. Now the question is, is it their fault for making and selling crap, or ours for continously pre ordering and enabling this behavior?
i was exposing cdpr very earlier on but was getting attacked in and out from cdpr paid shills. now they have became billionaires now they are no where to be found lol
The game is not unfinished. It is simply a scam to attract investors.
You want 20% of your reputation back, CDPR? Then stop talking and start doing
I think the really sad thing here is that people still, after decades of broken promises from many studios, haven't learned how to set realistic expectations.
If people still feel like they can trust any pre-releases news then they're lying to themselves. We all know studios will promise the world and deliver a fraction of what's promised, we've seen it time and time again.
Here's a tip: Don't slavishly follow dev updates and previews and pore over every detail, wait for games to come out and take them at face value. That's how it used to work before social media, and people were far less frequently disappointed, because they never knew about cut content or development changes until long after they'd played and enjoyed the game. And that was a better time.
They said that wasn't the final product cause it may change, like almost most of it are not even similar to what they promised.
For a first $60++ dollar AAA game i ever paid for was a huge let down, i shall never ever pre-order any game again especially from CDPR.
Yo man, I really appreciate how you report on whats going on while not leaning into the whole bash on cdpr for views n stuff. I got tiered of hearing people just dump on cdpr n the game. Like I get theres a lot of mistakes n issues with the game and cdpr; however, their tempertantrums about the situation is repulsive at this point.
It couldn't get any worse than this.
Well, by The Heist mission where the panel next to the Iconic Katana that was unable to interact with while still having an interacting icon on it we can agree it was a halfway developed game that get cut most of the promised features and contents then thrown it out to the market.
Sounds like Daikatana development with switching engine
Doesn't this usually happen with demos from a couple of years off? Changes are always going to be made anyway and yes, many times we get just a video rather than a demo. I've wondered if hype just is what is killing it for making people have so many expectations and then not being able to fulfill so many of them. I think that the only way it would have succeeded (IMO) is if Marketing, Investors and also their bosses actually LISTENED to the developers and take them seriously rather than just working assets. Hopefully, they will learn, but who knows if they will or not.
See how easily it was for them to lie and for us to be fooled? The media have done the same with the election
The fucking version of Duke Nukem Forever running on the unreal engine from 2001-2002 was more real and complete than unfinished vaporware 2077.
I feel like there are always issues when a studio is developing an engine concurrently with developing the game. Seems like that never works, though maybe only the failures are made public…why do studios keep doing it?
This is why you don’t have people who don’t make FPS make your FPS mega game
Exactly what I said years ago. And it should be a 3rd person game. They should of got Hideo on board. Because this is a metal gear rip
My wife beat the game just to end it. That’s a real bad sign. She beat the Witcher 30 times to play different ways
Wait….so when you have a management staff who doesn't understand how things work, and investors that want their money back……the game would get launched, missing features and not working properly? Damn, who would've thunk it
99% of all e3 demos are fake or just a prototype on rails. Very scripted.
Cyberpunk 2077 vs Anthem vs star citizen … And the list goes on
EA, Capcom, activision, ubisoft – "welcome to the club kid"
Imagine how much better a game we could have had if people didn't PRE-PURCHASE it, and thus the developers and publishers had to EARN the money?
Since CDPR said they had recouped the entire development costs by pre-orders alone, that means the publisher's pressure had no valid pushback, since the money was already in the bank. Had that not been the case, maybe they could have said "Look, if this flops, you get no money." and the game would have been released in April 2021, which is when you're going to feel like playing it anyways, since maybe most of the bugs will be fixed by then.
So much for the game being in development for 8-10 years.. Frankly, i find it hard yo believe it started production in 2016 even, given the shoddy state it released in.
As a person who has given demos, most of them are at least half faked. This trailer came out TWO YEARS before the release! If all the content was actually there, they wouldn't be putting out a trailer, they'd be releasing a game. You all have brain worms. Video games were a mistake.
I fucking hate character creation in cyberpunk wtf why can't I create a 7 foot tall dude with huge muscles! I'm forced to be a little dude with zero muscles!!
These 3rd person cutscenes showcasing V would have been nice to have once in a while.. The fact that you only occasionally see V in the menus, cars/bikes and when in the mirror every so often is just weird. At this point in time, I have decided to stop playing Cyberpunk 2077, and just leave it on the backburner while I finish other games for the next while. Hopefully CDPR can still pull it together like how No Man's Sky did. Its just really unfortunate that they decided to release the game this early.
Im ex CD Projekt Employee I worked on The Witcher One, I can confirm that everything there is the truth. Nothing changed there, and they should change the entire top management. They won't be able to produce anything more than Witcher 3 it is their MAX.
So it was actually roughly 2 year development that makes so much more sense
