  1. For anyone interested, a lot of the odd mix of humor and weird 4th-wall-breaking elements come straight from the game's origins as a French comedic audio drama created by a band of musician/comedians that has since been adapted to comics, books, and now a game!

  2. Well, I must say, if there was a thing I never expected an American website to cover, it's the Donjon de Naheulbeuk. That IP has a long history – it started as a series of French audio comedy sketch that were aping the style of French-Canadian comedian François Pérusse and applying it to a DnD parody. It started back in the early-to-mid noughties. It's thus bizarre, but refreshing, to hear the thoughts of someone who doesn't know jacksquat about it

  3. They technically don't have names. the ranger gets the name orcarm and the barbarian takes the name taurok cause he thinks his true name is dumb. also the elf is named Selenia because of nobility thingies

  4. It would be amusing if the "dumb blonde" was voiced by a beefy guy while the orc was voiced by a woman, etc, etc mixing up the voices like a real D&D campaign. Given the game is already going for laughs it would just be a fun meta-layer.

  5. I played the limited time demo they had released and never finished it because of that 'enemy never takes his turn' bug. I left the computer running for a couple hours hoping it might choke through, but no luck. The demo had to be played all at once and I didn't feel like starting over again. It's a shame they didn't hammer that one out. I will definitely go on a wait and see mode now.

  6. Youdefintiely have to know about the IP from before to enjoy it to the fullest. It is not a strategy game themed in a med fan genre, it is a Neheulbeuk story with a little bit of strategy gaming around. The humour and particularly the team as set here is key to the whole story. If you are after pure turn-based strategy, better get xcom 2 or something similar. If you want to enjoy this one, you'd better run it in French to really get the bulk of the jokes. The translators did well, but it is waaaaaay better in French.

  7. Been playing it. I can say sometimes the AI takes longer than expected to end their turn, but the majority of bugs and unnamed item issues seem to be squashed. Game isn't for everyone, but it's been fun for me.
