Behind the Cathedral you will find Alfred a father who lost his daughter. And Jiangcheng an old man (living in Quince Village) who lost his wife and daughter due to a terrible storm.
Childish Jang- but also there's a thing going around liyue. It's about a girl who "commited suicide" because of her father's disapproval of her marriage to a "beggar boy" Turns out she didn't actually die but is in bishui plain, liyue.
There's this depressing event that happened on liyue about a girl taking her own life. You can check out the details of this incident at the events board in the center of liyue. But there is a twist, the so called "dead" girl is somehow located near the stone gate, still alive >:)
One of the sadder ones that I discovered on my own was Jiayi, a Mililith soldier in Liyue that stands guard at the Ministry of Civil Affairs. He speaks of seeing his daughter again, and when you ask him about it, he tells you that his wife died in childbirth, and that he had to give his daughter to her grandparents for them to raise her. He wishes so badly to see his daughter again, and that made me really feel for him, for some reason. He's one of my favourite NPCs in the game because of his story, and I've even sketched him as tribute. I plan to do the same for Alfred the bard because seeing his story in this video almost made me cry…
There's a Millelith in Liyue named Hongyi (Near grandman that sell kites) that talks about water pollution in Feiyun Slope. You can read more info of it in the bulletin boards about what happened.

There’s a bunch of other sad backstories like – a guy and a fairy fell in love(I think) and then the fairy just disappeared, and the guy still waits for the fairy in the village near Monstadt I think -Childish (Jiang??) lost his parents while playing a game of hide and seek and They died with the stone tablets right outside his house but he can’t read so, – A woman and A man fell in love but they never told each other so now they have a stand right next to each other and the woman still waits for the man to tell her that he loves him. -(Probably a bunch others—)
I think jiancheng is not the husband of granny chu. The desc about her hubby is different at first. And i think jianchen's wife and her child is murdered by someone. So he regret it very much, about he not come home 1 hour earlier before his wife is gone. He not alzheimer or maybe he have one. But I think he have some trauma, so he will seeing other like his wife😭
There one on the mission hide and seek i think its childish jiang he waiting his parents to come home but their parents already dead and the tombstone is next of the house
Yeah i hope mihoyo add more world quest about NPC's backstory or stories about other characters like chongyun, beidou, xinyan, noelle etc. But shame, now the game turn to grind game
For those talking about Little Nine in Wuwang Hill, just to twist the knife for y’all—
– Little Nine mentions that her village “up north” was swept away by flood. If you check the map, North from where she is……. lays the Oceanid.
– Her “brother” (actually brotherly neighbor) is Chang the Ninth, that writer on a quest we did that wants to become famous. He’s all grown up now. He wants fame cus he’s hoping that one day, if his sister picks up his book, she will come to find him… The whole family was separated; no news that she died.
– Little Nine was clinging on to a book in her quest, saying how her brother wrote it “specially for her.” That’s the same book Chang was referring to.
There's this NPC during the day time that's located near the docks, sorta near the Reputation quest board thing. Her name is Sisi and if you talk to her, she tells you that she's taken and she's waiting for her lover Chaoxi to come back from the seas. She talks about how she wishes to spend more time with him but he's always away
There's another NPC located on the Pearl Gallery, her name is Cui'er. She also talks about her lover overseas who happens to be named Chaoxi.
During nighttime you can find Chaoxi on the talks with Sisi. Sisi wants to get married but Chaoxi doesn't want to, claiming that he's "tired". Then Sisi calls him out for being suspicious
So basically Chaoxi is cheating on Sisi and Cui'er lol
– Joel's quest, he's a kid in the camp that leads to Dragonspine. – Yi Xian and Yi Zhu, 2 kids in the middle area of liyue, they are in the bridge above Changshun (a merchant, but you can't buy anything from her). – Venti's Story quest, you'll learn more about a certain npc. – Timmie at the bridge in Mondstadt, second dialogue.. is a very short one tho. – There's an old npc that sometimes appears outside Bubu pharmacy, he has a little story to tell. – Granny Shan and Ying'er in Liyue, they have some "interesting" dialogues… they are east of the alchemy table. – Hongyi, a millelith guard pattroling the area around Granny Shan and Ying'er, tells something about polluted water, and if you look at the Bulletin Board in the middle of Liyue (multiple times) you'll learn what really happened there.
Feel free to tell me other NPC's with interesting dialogues but don't tell me if it's sad, funny, etc. Just tell me the name and where they at.
