even easier is to just drag it all they way up on shore, then chop with an axe repeatedly
This seems like a huge hassle, takes about 20-30 wood arrows to take it down on the sea, why go through all of that

You can drag the serpent up on Shore.
Heh just when I thought maybe I have run into most of the things the game has to offer this early stage I run into sea serpents, kraken and new enemies living in tribal huts…
I made my base in a small open area between Draugr village and a swamp while sea serpents are lurking in the coast 😀

I suppose this would be possible to do solo if you just run your ship into the shoreline? or do you you actually have to damage serpent before dragging it ashore?

Just drag them onto land.
All you do is shoot it with arrows.. There is nothing special

Or just drag the serpent on shore and then you can kill him or he will just die by itself.
I’m pissed because to get to the elder on my map I have to cross a giant ocean full of serpents and almost lost everything of value I own while trying to cross. And I don’t think I’m in the right stage of the game to kill a serpent.

That creature is a Kraken.
So how are solo players suppose to kill them? Do i just need to aim my boat for the shoreline before harpooning and then crash onto shore?
just a idea what if you had 2 ships with a person with a harpoon on each could you then trap the serpent between both boats, may decrease or completely stop damage to you and your ships plus it would be easier to keep it from escaping and maybe killing it just a thought

Do the Serpent Scale sink if you kill it out the sea?
Have killed like 6 of them no scale
Like everyone else has said, you CAN drag the Serpent onto the shore, but the banks must be low or the tide high.
Killing it in the water will cause both scales & trophy to sink. Happy fishing.

The serpents are super easy to kill, my issue is that I can’t find them anywhere. Also you don’t need three people to kill serpents, just a bow and some arrows
