  1. Deconstruct rocks and wood piles quickly with the hammer and middle mouse button. Wood piles WILL degrade over time so repair them before dismantling to get all the wood back.

  2. Wow, having to repair every single component piece of a build individually looks like a nightmare, & if it costs nothing to repair things then why do they degrade that way at all? Would make more sense to let you repair the entire structure at once and/or only begin degrading that stuff when you've not been near it for a long time.

  3. @17:09 i can confirm, plains are bad at start of game! However, the mosquitos tend to fly straight at you when attacking and they are VERY squishy to arrows. I was able to kill in one hit. Just be aware… they come out of the grass like pokemon and hit HARD.

  4. Structure degradation should only occur for wooden structures that are submerged in water or exposed to the rain, and will stop at 50%. Covering wooden structures with roofs should prevent degradation (note that floors don't count seem to count for stopping degradation), and if placing a structure in the water try to use stone.

As a side tip when exploring instead of bringing supplies for a mini-base I bring stuff for a workbench and one portal. I ensure that there is always a portal at home with an unused tag (say "explore"). Then whenever it gets to be night or my inventory is full while I'm out exploring, I build the portal and return home to drop off stuff or sleep before tearing down the portal and continuing exploration.

  5. Speculating, but coal is probably a component of poison resistance mead because charcoal has an incredible capacity for absorbing chemicals. It was often used to treat accidental poisoning and stomach-related problems.
