Sometimes games don’t do very well. Sometimes they do so badly they sink the company that made them. Here are some examples of the latter…!

  1. No, even with Re-Reckoning out, Ellen is still not over the whole Kingdoms of Amalur thing… THERE WAS A NEARLY FINISHED MMO, PEOPLE, NO STOP DRAGGING ME AWAY FROM THE KEYBOA-

  2. The list doesn’t even include the tragedy of Clover Studios. They released Okami, often considered one of the best games ever, and God Hand, a cult classic that’s very expensive these days, in the same year and immediately went out of business because neither of those games sold well in 2006.

  3. Amalur was quite good. My favorite thing was that I got to beat the final area and final boss wearing only gloves, boots, and some jewelry because I optimized my build for health regen.

  4. I loved KoA! I was even one of the few people who ended up with the Reckoner Knight Armor and Chakram Launcher legit in Mass Effect 3, which was only possible by playing and beating the KoA demo!
The only real problem i had with the original PS3 version (the only version i could realisticly play), was that it tended to crash a lot, and even with online saves it was possible for your savefile to be corrupted, meaning you could be forced to start the entire game from scratch…

Didn't stop me from loving the game, and i also got Re Reckoning on PS4, 100% it in less than a week during lockdown!

  5. I remember getting really hyped for Haze. I loved Timesplitters and I got caught up in the hype and didn’t read the reviews when it came out. Needless to say I bought it day one and it was SO disappointing. The only bit I liked was when you stopped taking the drug and you suddenly saw the world for what it actually looked like, but that was it. Everything else was generic crap.

  6. Kingdoms of amalur really is such an under rated game… Its a shame it got released while skyrim was still hot… So skyrim got all the press, while KoA got put on the wayside

  7. Is every Outside Xtra video going to have KoA in until Luke returns? Not complaining. I played it because of Ellen and loved it (except the spiders obvs).

  8. Haze was actually pretty fun. Not the multiplayer, or the plot, or the characters… but some of the mechanics were at least interesting. It played similarly to the original Killzone.

  9. I figured that everyone would have forgotten, by now, about how Sierra Sports was destroyed by the 1998 release of its Front Page Sports Football series. It was a fantastic series until that year, when a complete redesign was fraught with so many bugs that it was deemed unplayable. The company recalled the game, couldn’t fix the issues, and eventually was shut down. That game series was my KoA.

  10. I played KoA, and if it's any more pain on your soul, I went straight for the Universalist destiny.
On both the PS3 and PS4
Yeah, I loved it for what it was, and all the obscene amounts of elements that I loaded onto trolls
I loved KoA: R, but I could NOT get into Skyrim. I hate STAMINA BARS

  11. I tried to play Kingdoms of Amalur like 3 different times, but the same thing killed it for me: you can't jump. I didn't appreciate how something as simple as jumping could impact a game like this.

  12. I enjoyed the concept of Kingdom of Amalar my biggest issue with it was the lack of challenege before even getting half way through the game i was max level and overpowered. From internet forums that in general was a big issue and it killed repeatability

  13. kingdoms of amalur is the best rpg around. Yes skyrim was a heavy contender however the depth of amalurs systems were amazing, the detail and intricacies of developing your character were and still are the best in my opinion. Amalur deserved a much better life than it has had and I hope dearly to see what comes next for the game and its series that was supposed to follow

  14. Well, NCSoft is def in the wrong for pretending he resigned, but you can tell who fucked up the game and lost tremendous money for NCSoft considering the work after.

  15. Is it that hard to not just regurgitate every opinion word for word over specific games etc that get mentioned. I literally could have guessed word for word everything that was said about haze because it's all handpicked words that already on the internet
