  1. Lots of people buy content that is banned in their country on the USA eBay web site and then have it shipped to their country illegally. Since eBay corporate doesn't actually control shipping and fulfillment the way Amazon does, they can't actually stop this.

I assume eBay has gotten pressure from countries that ban adult materials (most of them) and doesn't want to deal with it.

  2. Well is quite easy to understand why they did that. They no longer belong to PayPal, there for they lost the special treatment they had. Now they have to abide by PayPal "standard" rules that every other website does from now on. No selling/buying porno stuff, or Paypal revokes their platform access licence. And losing PayPal is a "No no" for anyone how is minimal understanding of online business.

Most casual users don't even research these things so they won't know.

  3. Probably a push from Paypal, so you want to be able to sell adult works but your banning adult works so that minors cant get them, yup makes perfect sense.

  4. something to note here that I don't see anyone talking about is the priority that ebay has in google's search results. When you search for literally anything, online storefronts are among the first results, and ebay is traditionally one of the biggest. A common problem that's burdened google images for the past while lies in adult content being sold via ebay and other similar stores. Googling for characters from movies and games in the search engine, you'll find that ebay store pages are often give priority in the search results, and there doesn't seem to be a remarkable distinction between adult products and regular products. I would bet that had a bearing on this decision, but it's not like ebay's the only online store that would need to take this action. Really, the ownness should lie on google for playing favorites like it does.

  5. This news doesn't effect me personally but it still feels unnecessary. Are kids shopping on ebay these days? And people who do not wish to see adult item listings should curate their experience by not looking them up or ebay adding a filter feature on accounts that can hide adult related listings. Also, the real reason is the same Tumblr purged their site probably. I bet their app would be removed from the app stores or something.

  6. I love how suddenly we are back to the 60s for whatever reason.
And I thought that opening to feminists, and LGBTQ would have meant social progress. Boy, if I was wrong.

  7. It's good that some companies are finally removing degeneracy and filth from their sites but I do hope they redefine the 18+ games to only the ones with nudity.

  8. They should be against scalpers.. Idiots. But probably scalpers bring too much money for them. Because there will be always idiots who buys from them and eBay gets a bit from that.

  9. Ebay is an American company alright.Well, there will be substitutes jumping in this niche though. Asides most of "Eroge" and similar already were mostly distributed through their own stores and sites. Still sucks that the world becomes more and more close minded "for the sake of children"…
Though in my opinion scalpers are a more immediate problem but why would they stop them. After all, they get there share of those ridicules overpricing scalpers.

  10. The horny ban is really gonna backfire on these companies. I know besides the main admins being dicks, mugen archive lost alot of traffic and caused a lot of uproar when they tried it
