Such an interesting way to work this out, and you could go through the entire game, not find a Kraken and be none the wiser! First noticed that killing the serpents dropped scales, but they would sink to the bottom of the ocean. Who knew that a harpoon would do the trick?
And for that Troll on the beach!!! We couldn’t of written this stuff! Made for a crazy adventure and now I have a shiny shield to show for it!

I actually haven't encountered either Kraken or Serpent even tho I've been happily sailing around on my search for the swamp biome, but when I find one, I'll know what to do

Is it just me or are you unable to stagger enemies with a timed block when using the serpent shield? I just got my hands on one and it was quite an improvement to my previous bronze shield. At least its block value is way higher but I can't seem to off balance enemies with it.

Me and a friend headed straight for the beach when we saw the beast, it followed us and we managed to kill it. We got the trophy, scales and meat but no recipe. Any idea what we need to do? I didnt know about the shield and stew till i just watched your vid:] Big thumbs up from me.
Ive only been playing solo and when i was carrying my first load of iron i had harvested back to my forge with my ship i was attacked by one of these mofos. Had my ship down to 1 hp when i was 30m out from my base. Then it dawned on me that i had a harpoon in the skarf's store. I pulled it out, equipped it and stuck the monster, dragging it to shore to butcher the massive beast. Got back to base with all my iron saved and made a nice shield. Most satisfying moment yet.
Ok… killed my second sea serpent and harvested its scales…. after like 5 attempts since greydwarfs kept attacking means killed me once

I had an early encounter with this and she destroyed my boat and then killed me, how to recover my itens in the middle on the fking ocean? lol
I never knew about this monster..so it began as my buddy died and I recovered his loot, I was sailing back to our homeland when it got dark. I didn't think anything of it so I continued, that's when I seen it..a huge slitering tyrant before me staring from a distance that's when it screeched and sure enough i was doomed.
Before I can reach land the line always breaks. I came here hoping to ge tthatz explained but well.. Anyone knows how you can avoid that?

Looks like Trolls like you almost as much as they do me. I was just farming some core wood at the border of the Black Forest, suddenly I hear a THUMP THUMP THUMP. Turn left, and bam he's looking me dead in the eye from the edge of the forest.

a sea serpent found me during a storm, by the time I realized it wasn't a rock I couldn't even turn away in time, it put itself right in front of me and we collided. I barely made it to shore in time to repair my boat before it was destroyed, and abused the AI by occasionally dipping myself in the water to keep it interested in me while I sniped it with a finewood bow, killing it.

The sea monsters are pretty disappointing so far tbh. I’m hoping they add a megalodon or something super op that’s difficult to kill
Man I started 5 days ago and decided it would be a good idea to take my ship on a 1 1/2 hour mapping tour. At my furthest point I started getting bombarded with flying insects, of course the wind was going against me. My boat was half way damaged. I decided to head back and not risk loosing all my bronze gear. I got close to a little gremlin village with a big troll there as well. One of the gremlins starts chucking spears at my boat (the wind is again not in my favour) I BARELY get away, my boat now hanging on by a thread of health. I decided no more messing around, Im going to take to the middle of the ocean for the rest of my long trip back so as to not risk loosing my ship and gear.
It’s calm, it’s relaxing. It’s safe.
All of a sudden I notice this stegosaurus looking shit ahead of me, I’m like NOPE. Curiosity is not killing this cat and start to turn away with the wind. This fucker stands up in the ocean, big ass teeth, screams bloody murder at me and starts torpedoing it’s way towards me. I filled to the brim with regret as I tried my hardest to get away. It swam up to my boat 4-5 times even as I’m cruising full speed now. It didn’t hit my boat once and finally decided to retreat. My heart was racing. I immediately went to my path I had come and hugged it for dear life until I finally made it home. WHAT A INSANE TRIP. Lol. This game is something else.
