lol. a friend figured this out a few days ago. he has so much coal and cores it's silly. we wonder how long before this gets nerfed.
Very cool. I had happened to find one these spawn point right next to a Crypt not too far away from a little house base I made there will have to try this.
Question though: Is there any easier way to find Crypts in the Swamp? I’ve only found just one. Can’t find any at the shore line. Seems hard and dangerous to find trekking thru the Swamp.
One of the first things I did when I got to the swamps. At first it was an accident because for awhile they were dying out of nowhere. Until I thought, "hey, these are fire enemies. Water bad for fire. Must dig!"
It's even better when you find two of these fires next to each other. coal and cores for days!
Or just take a boat down to the Ashlands and farm them.
You could bring a hoe and level the ground to just below the waterline as well. A bit quicker than the pickaxe and with shallower water your movement won’t be as reduced.
Do you know why the surtlings might not be spawning? I have one of these on my world and the surtlings never spawn anymore?
Build 2 portals next to every surtling spawn you find and link them to go from surtling spawn to surtling spawn, starting and ending at your base. You'll not have to afk and will collect coal and surtling a lot faster 🙂

Just go to the ashlands there are surtlings everywhere

I found an odd method for this last night. If you build a tower at the southernmost point of the ashlands far enough into the water before the edge of the world the surtlings will keep dying in the water en masse trying to get to you leaving cores and coal everywhere.
I'm sure people do like the dad jokes at the end. 🙂
It'd probably be good to throw a work bench near the spawner up in the tree or something so the drops don't despawn
literally everything in this game is gonna eventually get patched out. It's too convenient. First game i ever saw where you can build around bosses and items don't disappear from the ground once you drop them and you can afk in all night without dying in a survival game. I LOVE it but you know people will b** to no end about how the game is too easy and BAM, it gets transformed into trash by the developers because they wanna listen to a "hardcore" crowd instead. Ark for example. No life? no problem. Good game. Got a life? R.I.P, find another game.
I find it amusing that they put a fire based enemy in the swamp were you have the wet debuff making their attacks pretty much harmless.
I did it yesterday and after about 15 spawning it stopped. It no longer spawns.
Question: if you leave the swamp completely they’ll still spawn, right?
Question please — Does this method work if instead of sitting AFK on top of the tree, I go through the portal and do some other stuff in the meantime?
Can you put down workbenches to keep them from spawning while you're working on the farm?
