  1. Some game mechanics tips for you (No content spoilers)
    – when building, colors denote structural integrity (green = good, red = bad)
    – work benches are for building, repairing items (hammer icon) and deconstruction (even buildings already in the world)
    – work benches have range and can be deconstrcted like any other building or furniture (no lose of material)
    – food provides health + stamina, more differnt types of food = more health
    – rested buff provides more stamina, stamina is crucial in this game, actions use stamina, manage stamina in combat
    – fire can be placed inside, but must be placed on soil, weather can damege furniture (rain)
    – teraforming will alove you to build far superior base, water is dynamic (wink)
    – different biomes, different materials (needed for better tools)
    – wind direction is important for sailing, tree fall
    – gathering materials and crafting unlocks new stuff
    – you can look at your stats in the game, to know how good you are at stuff
    – there are tooltips, i think you have to press a button(can't remember which), while hovering over item
    – you can block attacks, timing is important
    – explore, investigate everything that sticks out (secrets)

  2. Comfort and Rest are connected. The Rest buff is *important*, it increases your stamina regen. You get the Rest buff by being in your house for a while. Various furnishings in your house increase the house's Comfort score. The higher the Comfort, the longer your Rest buff lasts. The Rest buff lasts for (7 + Comfort) minutes.

  3. U can block the enemy attack by right click , if u get perfect timing u can counter make the enemy stumble also u can repair ur item for free xD . Open workbench > theres glowing square with hammer icon inside , located at top left workbench menu , just tap that multiple time till all fixed ~

Im loving valheim since day one release , now u making video on it ! Thank you! Im so hype!

  4. My first house: a 3×3 wall house with simple roof, floor against the ground.
Broadbent: I think I'm going to build a round house on a solid foundation… and make it a two floor house.

  5. Hi Broadbent! So glad to see you jump in with your usual initial zeal. I know you enjoy figuring it out on your own, through experience & trial and error. I also read the comments, so as to avoid imparting redundant advice. 😁
For terraforming, for example, to get rid of the grass peeping up through your floor, you need to make a hoe. It levels out the land, into a flatter earth surface, (dirt, not grass, which can be placed later after unlocking lots of things) level with the height you are standing on. I believe there are ways to raise & lower land, but I am not super familiar, being a console player & not having access directly to this game.
If you explore water areas with the smallest raft, hug coasts & don’t enter open ocean, especially at night, because there are giant sea serpents. In the mini map thingy, top right that pops up when sailing, it will state what biome you are in/near. So it will say the type of land you are passing by or say OCEAN if you’ve strayed far enough from the coastal waters.
Don’t go into Mountain biome until you are able to craft potion to ward against frigid temperatures or you will die fairly quickly. There are wolves there that you can make armor & cape from that will permanently protect you from that cold, instead of using potions all the time. You can continue to use the Wolf cape situationally for mountain forays with any of the later, better armor in the game, to continue that cold protection. The entire Wolf armor set is good early on but will progress fairly soon after, so that’s why just keeping just the cape will be handy at that point.
Portals are a fast travel thing, later on! But, I am still unsure exactly how they work, except that the portals at each end must be named the same to make a viable pathway. So you may end up with several sets going to different biomes quickly, for resources or enemy/boss farming. A big room dedicated to just portal travel might be a probable thing. You already unlocked signs, so you can label where each one goes or label chests according to what you put in them.
You will have to read some things to progress. In starting area, there are a set of standing stones with carved images of the different bosses (5, so far, with more coming up shortly, along with a couple of new biomes) & hooks 🪝 on them, for hanging those bosses’ heads, once defeated, to gain optional buffs that have cool downs after use. You can change which ones you want to use at various times, once they’re available to you. There are also smaller gravestone looking stones found in the world, with glowy writing on them. Some are lore, but some are the clue telling you the location of the corresponding boss fight & places it on your map. There can be multiples for the same boss, so up to you where you choose to fight it. Whatever is closest, I guess? Now, I don’t know what cheats exactly are available, so it’s possible you may not need to grind to unlock crafting recipes at all, if it just gives them to you like Minecraft Creative mode. So, you might be able to ignore this paragraph above.
Defeating bosses also unlocks the possibility of enemies from those corresponding biomes to raid your encampment. So, fortifications will be necessary if you decide to play through instead of just building. The difficulty of biomes, thus far, from easiest to hardest is Meadow, Black Forest, Mountain, Swamp, Mistlands (currently safe completely, but adding enemies to game soon), Plains. I may have left some out. You will need to gather some resources from dungeons found spread around, if there aren’t cheats for all materials.
