In this Valheim guide I will show you how to get chitin to craft the Abyssal weapons including the Abyssal Dagger (Abyssal Razor) and Harpoon Location in Valhiem. The harpoon is a unique weapon that tethers you to other enemies or players after you throw it at them, so it can be used for relocating creatures such as boar into a pen, or commonly for dragging Sea Serpents to land to strand them and make their Serpent scales recoverable (since they normally sink in deep water). This Valheim guide will show you how to get leather scraps location, how to get fine wood location and how to get chitin. Chitin is a rather secret material that you can only get from mining Abyssal barnacles found on Leviathans in the Ocean biome. Leviathans are giant sea turtles that will start to sink underwater once you start mining them, so it can be rather difficult to collect enough Chitin to craft these weapons. Using Chitin you can craft both the Abyssal weapons at any level 2 Workbench.

What happens if you stay on while it sinks? Just swim to your boat?
Is it only an iron pickaxe that can get the barnacles?
Hit them all once before breaking them

tip for mining even longer. if you are actually mining until the kraken is submerged and you are swiming
. you can take stamina potions in water. they wont work completly but will give you enough to either survive or get back to the boat.
OBS not a Turtle, its a Kraken. Read the discription of the shard.
Don't forget the secondary attack of the dagger. Pretty crazy backstab if you can sneak up and literally jump the enemy

Abyssal dagger is my preferred method of deathsquito control. Full run speed with it out and it's a quick one shot kill without breaking your stride.
In Norse mythos that's actually a Kraken, not a turtle. Though I prefer the Turtle-based mythos because a surface-level Kraken freaks me out especially in a game where I can't swim without dying after 4 seconds.

Stayed for the satanic laughter.
Me and my friend got that stuff by accident, we saw a small island and we where debating on building there. Then we saw the things to harvest and we got some. We where on a raft too so when the turtle started to sink my friend ran to the raft missed his jump and with no stamina drowned. I said this thing will eat our raft I'm staying on top and preserved my stamina. I got to the raft after it sank and got home with all the loot. Took over 30 minutes round trip in our crappy raft tho
Everyone calls it a kraken idk why but if you look closely you can see it had glowing green eyes
So here I am just sailing home in my longship with a full cargo of iron and what do I see floating in the middle of the ocean, a large rock.
Awesome I will stop here and mine some new stone, what’s this a barnacle? Start the mining and holy shit the land is moving. So I panic to jump back into the boat, turn around…the land is gone.

Dude I found this completely on accident. I just saw an Isla d with a new thing that looked like I could mine. I swam over and started mining… then it started shaking. Lol I was freaking out "Holy shit this isn't an island! This is some kind of creature, it's getting mad at me"

The land mass is a (kraken)
Test on Trolls, they are very vulnerable to knifes, normaly in caves with a cooper dagger maxed i can hit 1/3 of its HP (53 knife skill)

I was worried that those sea monsters move away after you harvest the chitin,
so my friends would harvest them when I wasn't there and was worried I'd need to find another, lol
