  1. I feel like Lighting and atmosphere makes a huge difference in a game regardless of graphics. Minecraft becomes a completely different game once shaders are added and the lighting and atmosphere in Valheim makes it look beautiful by todays standards even with its simpler graphic style

  2. Anyone who says that this game looks like a ps2 game must have a potato pc. I'm running this game at highest settings at 4k and it's just gorgeous. And I just love the fact that it's only 1 gig.

  3. I’m still a bit on the fence about this game. I’ve played Rust, 7D2D, and Ark and haven’t really liked any of them. I love minecraft but i’ve played it so much its become stale over the years.
This does look interesting though—not just sure if i’m ready to pull the trigger on it. Maybe I’ll check out some streamers?

  4. I refunded it because it felt really clunky to me having to use the number Keys instead of mouse wheel. Have the same problem with Arc. It's the only thing stopping me from enjoying those two games in a genre I play the hell out of

  5. Valheim proves what I’ve been saying for a decade. You don’t need perfect graphical fidelity to make a game look and feel amazing. Yes, if you zoom in and study the polygons, it doesn’t look great by most game’s standards. But if you look at it as a larger picture, watch the trees sway and the waves grow and turn green in a storm. How the light and shadows play off each other. How the mist settles into pockets in the ground of the game world. It all makes the world feel real and alive for me.
I’m interested to see what the developers have in store for the future. Heck, I’m even done exploring what’s there already. I’d like to seem more environmental hazards (lightning strikes, freezing rain, hail, larger waves that crash on shore), but other than that, just refining what’s here would be enough.

  6. It's such a breath of fresh air to have a survival crafting game that is more co-operate than anything else out there. I also love the viking age and they're getting the beat perfectly right.
Finally, a shout-out to my boys and girls at Skövde Uni! It's so nice seeing devs from there hitting it big. Skövde really is the Silicon Valley of game startups. IG, maybe that's something you could look into?

  7. If your sitting on the fence about this game don’t. Buy it with some of your friends and play the crap out of it. It’s just so different they were to make the Grindy parts fun. This game no doubt will be game of the year.

  8. its literally Minecraft, Rust, but more looking like Runescape so anyone that play's those will want to at least check it out. I love the whole Vikings and mythology that comes from there.

  9. This game is the best example of a coop exploration game I can think of. My wife and I love playing it together. Last night we sailed into a bay we dubbed "Tin Harbor" and my wife mined the coastal deposits while I offered cover fire from our boat. Fantastic fun!
