Playstation and PC have distinct differences, and while Anti-Cheat and Anti Tamper on PC can be defended (despite serious drawbacks and performance flaws) having that technology on a closed loop platform like the PS5 makes absolutely no sense.
DRM is not popular to begin with but DRM and Anti Cheat that is both redundant and possibly invasive on a platform that does not even have a practical use for it? That’s not going to be a popular decision, and Denuvo is not the right candidate to make such a move.

So its decided, this year ill get a new pc instead of continuing on the ps5. And ofc ill download cracked games instead of buying them, since the cracked versions run much smoother and dnt spy on my devices. Thanks Denuvo, you saved me a TON of money.
Not going to lie I was going to skip your ad plug but then you did the one thing that I've never seen any other Youtuber do before, You kept it short and to the point. You Sr just earned my sub.
Video games became too advanced to contend with corporate greed. Now that it earns more money, it can't be avoided. Think of GTA:SA. You want to goof off with boosted stats or cars or ammo, here's your cheat code, knock yourself out. Today cheat codes are basically a thing of the past. Now you get microtransactions to even have anything similar to that.
If AC:Odyssey was released in about 2003-2005, double XP would have been a cheat code. Because they could make money off it these days, it isn't.
That car is called Tesla. Look up what happens if you sell one used.
only application I could see for this on console is if it works for detecting cronus use, but probably not I guess.
Thanks god i bought a series x
Idk but i get the feeling that if i post this, microsoft will announce it for xbox.
Thanks Sony for giving me another reason not to buy the PS5
In a word with buggy releases and where the first 2 to 8 months of ironing the bugs after release, the 2 days were the game is not cracked after release is just a drop in the ocean. Adding Salt to injury there are cases of cracked games that work better than the bought version.
There's no end to the reasons not to get a PS5. xD
He says here we go for.the add and boom youtube add appears
This is one of the dumbest decisions of this console generation
…but why is a DRM being installed directly onto the console? if devs want it that much why wouldn't it be built into the game, on a game by game basis?
PC games with DRM are used only for the games they're bundled with
(also **ck DRMs, the only people they hurt are the people that BUY the game)
I have bought few indie titles other than that everything pirated no way in hell im gonna pay for something as useless as games
I seriously have no idea why developers or actually publishers like Denuvo so much, it rarely works on PC and the only thing it does is bring them bad press, because everyone hates it.
Who gonna thumb this down? Really?
It could be much more simple. Just plain corruption within Sony. Some Top Dude got paid off by Denuvo's tops to sign them on so Denuvo would have a huge contract. Can't imagine there is a good opportunity to grow in their anti-tamper business, you can't have more contracts than big releases each year. This way it gives them incredible opportunity to expand their business instantly. Who's winning in this deal the most? Denuvo, plain and simple.
"Piracy is a service problem" – Gabe Newell
Hey Sony, make every copy of your games a NFT and charge for it on top of the 70-80 $/€ you ask for ! That's better for the job, that's even more stupider and that gives players a sense of pride and ownership !
I got an add, on your sponsor XD
i'll would really like 2 know how Denuvo Anti-Cheat is going to work with Crossplaying PS5, Xbox and Pc in like CoD.
It's because more games are going to becoming cross play, cross play with pc specifically. cheating happens often on pc.
Guess ill switch to Xbox now
Why was your intro to the add so funny? x)
Anyway, the only reason I can think of why Sony would agree to this is because they know/discovered something they are not sharing publicly.
Right because I forgot you can use mods online on consoles………………………….lol. That perma ban scares people rightfully so, this is a bad move for Playstation.
Ok from, my perspective, maybe in the style of the devil advocate.
I stopped playing competitive online games on PS3 because of rampant cheating and never returned to play them on PS4. I don't know if the reason was homebrew that allowed a modified application or some side software. From my knowledge, COD still have issues with cheats on consoles. If you look from this perspective companies, may want to protect game opinion to stop players from leaving. With allows them to sell microtransactions.
I think the same goes for single-player games where content is on "the disk" but locked behind software locks.
Do I want a DeNovo? No, low-quality implementation has quite an impact on the system.
It is coming because Denuvo payed Sony, not because it is of any use.
What if it's not about hacking at all, but about pleasing the shareholders that don't know shit about games?
Sony CEO: "Well we're going to include the most prominent state-of-the-art DRM in our new console, so you don't axe my ass next time we release a failure like TLoU2"
Investors: "What is DRM?"
Sony CEO: "It can possibly, maybe, save you some money from the pirates"
Investors: "DO IT, good job Sony"
Denuvo is an anti consumer software that only exists to scam gullible developers out of their money.
Piracy isn't a big deal for anyone that has any kind of focus on providing a good customer experience and it's incredibly bad at stopping MP hackers.
I always think of Alan Wake when I hear about stuff like this. Game was great but had so much product placement and licensed music that microsoft took it off steam and a lot of people were worried that it would get taken out of their accounts. Luckily that didn't happen, but knowing that it was a possibility, and one that was completely within the rights of valve/microsoft was scary.
Rip ps5
I do wonder why, this must cost Sony a good bit of money Denuvo isn't cheap. So I guess the problem is at least big enough to warrant the cost and lack of performance in their minds. Do agree it's a bit weird.. maybe one of the higher-ups of Sony bought some Denuvo stock which I expect will have gone up a good bit after this announcement?
tesla can flip a switch and render it useless. they can turn off any upgrades as well and lock you out of their chargers.
only console hacking i know and once learned a long time ago, was the internet connection hacking. Meaning you don't actually change anything in the game itself you just change the code everyone else receives from you.. any maybe that you receive from other people in multiplayer. Like increasing the perceived height of your car in Burnout Paradise so anyone that drives into you actually crashes. done that all in the ps3 days, so idk if that can even be done these days.. but id imagine so as your not changing the code in the console itself.
And the sad thing is that you still see people defend this crap even though they are the ones who loose out on it, not even corporate people, but regular consumers. Even when it is clear that the pirates get the superior version and faced with overwhelming evidence. The best argument they come with is "You're just a filthy pirate". Even sadder when they know of the whole "licence" thing and still defend it.
This crap is just snake oil meant for investors. A giant scam preying on paranoia.
As for your speculation, it could very well be alongside an attack on the home-brew scene. We already know that Genshin Impact employs a pretty invasive anti cheat for a single player game for the sole reason to prevent tampering with it's gatcha mechanics.
Sony just has too much money, they dont want yours anymore
And yet another reason why I wish I would've stuck with Xbox when the Xbone came out instead of jumping over to PS4.
I trust UEGs gut as well
today people buy games to support the ones who made it
or because the product was worth purchasing
like when a game comes out akin to the binding of isaac or kenshi or a smaller project that always gets cracked, when i was on the high seas id make sure the game ran and if say the devs were putting content out or just active in their forums or it just went on a more reasonable sale(due to currency conversions) id buy the product because i wanted to support them. i wouldn't have if i never played it i just would keep watching videos here and there
its why demos need to return. but aside
in this climate currently it seems like they're doing all they can to secure a sale, not a worthwhile product
and we let them do that shit since pre-orders became a thing. though i feel like that came into prevalence when harry potter got HUGE and it was actually a relativley safe bet you were getting your moneys worth, since an editor would have combed it a hundred times and control group was probably used to gauge its quality
yknow, they were ready when they were ready, not release in jan be playable by june
Can denuvo online verify the game licence? Sony said a while ago they will snuff out account sharing popular on PS3 and 4.
So playstation games will require an always active online connection? One more reason not to get a ps5.
"soon to be 70 dollars". Yeah wait and see how many aaa games i'll buy for 70usd. even 30 is a steep price. let alone 60. 70? nah fam i'll pass
Lol the console is already a physical drm why would they need to add more?
OOOOH that "non-intrisive" part of the statement makes my blood fucking boil!
Denuvo anti-tamper has already fucked me twice before, preventing me from playing the games I paid for while I was on vacation, without internet access which prevented the garbage DRM from verifying that I was a legit owner of the game and blocked me until I was bacl from vacation. If I had pirated the games instead of legally buying them I would have been able to play them just fine.
Denuvo is purely anti-consumer trash.
I got an ad while you were doing the sponsorship lol.
I fucking hate Denuvo.
Odyssey is so fucking bad tho. Off topic, but the gameplay is really triggering me
This is hilarious.
Hey dude you should cover the Bethesda and Xbox future exclusivity, I find it really anti-consumer to take a game series that has existed and built hype since Skyrim came out in 2011 and then tell a whole group of people passionate about that game that they can’t play the sequel after already waiting ten years at this point, I get it I’m a salty Sony fanboy but it is upsetting because I think console exclusivity hurts everybody
