This video shows what happens when you place foreign discs like the PS1, PS2, DVD etc. in an external 4K disc drive plugged into the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition.
It's pretty obvious that this wouldn't work because it would immediately defeat the billions of dollars that Sony put into protecting the games with DRM.
I did this as a kid. Put a ps1 disc in my Sega Saturn. It ruined the machines audio and put sonic jam in a ps1 and it ruined the audio so some parts of sonic jam would stutter or not at all.
I know why none of these dvds or games do not work. First of all. The disc or DVD have a special copy right program on it. You probably need a special program to by pass the copy rights in order to play them . Even with ps5 disc. Because when you download with the digital version it automatically bypass the copy rights. Maybe someone make a program to bypass it one day.
If u bought a digital edition ps5. It's a "digital edition ps5" period! I made the right decision and still pretty damn cool look. And bought the disc ps5 ๐
I think I know what the real problem is why the disc is not being detected because you need to go into the PS5 settings and reformat the external 4K Blu-ray drive assuming if I'm right the PS5 needs to add a partition into the external 4K Blu-ray drive in order for the PS5 to read it I have seen so many videos and I have not seen nobody try to reformat the external 4K Blu-ray drive ๐คฆโโ๏ธ You have to treat it like it's a external hard drive

All Sony needs to do is add driver support for external disc players and it would work perfectly
My disappointment is ruined and my day is immeasurable.
How about plug in a PS5 disk drive into the digital PS5 and see if that works at all or not…
