  2. Those of you who were able to watch any of his performances in EuroBasket 2017, which took place almost a year before he was drafted into the NBA, knew Doncic was a very good player. He and Goran Dragic led the Slovenian national team to the championship in the tournament. But him becoming an MVP candidate in just his second NBA season was not something anyone could have realistically predicted at that time. Doncic, still just 21 years old, recently passed Michael Jordan for most consecutive 20-point, five rebound, and five-assist games since the NBA/ABA merger.

  3. Luka Doncic has few weaknesses as an offensive player. One could point to his 3PT shooting, but even that’s not really a weakness as he is a willing shooter, and can make them when they matter. Luka Doncic is a genius who can break down any defense, and the game just comes naturally for a player of his caliber. Luka Doncic does a lot for the Mavericks, although it hasn’t shown in the wins column.

The Dallas Mavericks could still turn it around with Luka Doncic leading the way. They were a solid team last season, and they should hopefully get on track soon. For the Mavericks to be at their best, they have to harness all of Luka Doncic’s ability, as he is their present and their future.

  4. James Harden on Luka Doncic's beating them: “That’s rare for a guy at a young age to be able to dictate and control the game like he does. Obviously, as we know, he has a very, very bright future.
“And the Mavs got a special one.”
