Do I need to have had to play RE7 to understand the story? I like wacky. RE6 is actually my fave RE.
Interesting review. To the point and without spoiling anything. I'm pumped for the game. I understand that the developers want to expand the environment with sequels. However, despite loving Resi 4, I feel the classic Resi formula works better in tighter areas such as the Bakers' House or the Spencer Mansion. That's why I feel Resi 1 (OG and Remake) and Resi 7 are the scariest ones imo.

Keep in mind this was originally going to be a side spinoff, but the "Real RE8" was taking too long so they re-named this one to give the appearance of a more regular release cadence.
Think of RE:Villiage as the Treyarch produced "Black Ops" of the franchise compared to Infinity Ward's "Modern Warfare".
Looked rushed compared to 7.
When the devs said the feedback on RE7 was that it was "too scary", I knew we were in for trouble. I'll still play it, by why Capcom is determined to learned nothing from its obsession with absurdist action stupidity is beyond me. "Hey! We made a really scary and well received horror game with RE7! We can't be having any more of that."
