Vampire: The Masquerade is set in a fictionalized “gothic-punk” version of the modern world, where players assume the roles of vampires, who are referred to as “Kindred”, and deal with their night-to-night struggles against their own bestial natures, vampire hunters and each other.

  1. So much has happened since the great Lamia-slaying that I had finally forgotten that Chrys had yet to find out about that big event. Cass had to choose his words even more carefully than when dealing with a rival faction because Chrys was liable to frenzy and rip his head off if he said the wrong thing. I don't know what Cass' character sheet looks like because he's such a peculiarly-built character, but I'm still fairly certain Chrys would mop the floor with Cass in a fight. I'd regret it afterward, and I'd feel even worse for poor Chrys, but part of me really would like to see her open up a can of "whoop-Cass" on him. I'm far prouder of that pun than I should be…

The sandbox nature of Sunkissed makes things constantly interesting, especially given Sheepy's imagination, since we're treated to crazy stuff like a 2-meter-tall tortoise in the woods, only encountered due to Chrys getting moody and super- shoving Cassius. I'm wondering if perhaps this is what happens when supernaturals try to go into the woods in the direction of Cass' and Gravestone's homes without reciting the Gravestone poem/story. Either way, Cass (and clearly Josh) were left baffled and frustrated by this revelation (?). It has to be fun for Sheepy to perplex someone else who GMs Vampire and who plays Vampire several times per week when it comes to supernatural matters Josh doesn't already know inside and out. That's what's kinda cool about the World of Darkness, though…even if you borderline "master" one of the games (Vampire lore), Werewolf, Wraith, Mage, etc. will pull the rug right out from under you. I'm going to be so clueless about even the basics during Moonkissed, which will be kinda fun!

Speaking of Moonkissed, don't break the bank paying for art for the title card. Mebbe just shamelesly use the MS paint erasure tool over "SUN" and type "MOON." XD Or even don't bother with a title card for it, especially if it's just going to be a couple of sessions of so. No sense in wasting money. =)

Back on track! Alek – as usual – had very little "screentime" this week. I do feel a bit bad for Hydra, having to wait so long to get properly inducted into the coterie. That said, his perpetual mystique is quite enticing for viewers to find out more about him eventually. Most of us seem to be convinced that Alek is a Tzimisce, which fits since he has Animalism and is in the Sabbat…and is incredibly polite! While I realize this won't be the case, I whimsically mused that it would be ever so twisted if Alek actually was the Tzimisce churning out dozens of flesh-crafted monstrosities in Weirgate, but he's effectively being forced to by his peers so he wants Memoriae to kill his Sabbat brethren so he no longer has to answer to them. Like I said, that's not the case, but that would be a pretty messed up plot twist, haha.

Tess came clean with Chrys in this episode, too! I was surprised, but she has this eternal "competition" going on with Cass, apparently even when it goes badly for her. It's a bit of a psychological "issue" for her, really. Cass took the blame. Great! Move on and take the wind, and if he demands help later, just say 'no.' After all, what's he going to do, admit to Chrys that he was manipulative with her when he was claiming to tell about what he did with Lamia and that Tess was there, at the time? That might go worse for Cass than for Tess. But hey, it's those weird little personality quirks that make the coterie fun and interesting, feeling like real, fleshed out people with flaws instead of just shallow personas.

Leah is a silly and cute character, but the drama that began previously carried over a little into this episode, if only slightly. I initially wondered what in the world she was doing in the haven where Tess – whom she was upset with – sleeps during the day, but Sheepy clarified that Leah had a big fight with Devine. So that begs the question: about what? Was she trying to go back to Michael and Devine needed to stop her so she wouldn't find out he's dead? Did Leah break one of Devine's rules or ghouls (again)? Are they simply too different to be able to get along? I'm curious to see if we'll find out, and more curious to see how Leah will react if/when she learns that Micheal has been killed? Will she suspect Devine? Will she suspect Tess? Or both? Will she have a mental breakdown? So many possibilities, and this is just one of the many characters in the city.

Speaking of individuals in the city, Mr. Langdon came up again here. At first, I was like "he doesn't seem very Lasombra-y," but then it came out that he feels underappreciated for what he is capable of. He didn't use those words, but that was the sum of things, and for Lasombra, pride is in their very blood. I'd be quite interested to see what he could bring to the Memoriae and Weirgate. He got screwed by not being the Sheriff before…so perhaps some sort of security position? Or security management? The fellow seems perfectly reasonable and not too shady (insert Lasombra "shady" joke) despite how little we've gotten to know much about him so far in the story. It's unlikely Talia will like him, though, as Ventrue and Lasombra tend to despise one another more than Ventrue and Brujah.

Chrys and Kafka's interactions are generally quite fruitful, and this episode was no exception. Not only did we get the entertainment of Chrys purchasing information using a worthless piece of information (the shape of Khale's territory), making us proud, but we learned that various Kindred are teaming up…and it largely sounds like they're all gravitating to one of two sides: Kallig or Talia. So on the one hand, this is frightening in that is seems as though the city's Kindred may be headed for full-on war, with or without the Old Guard's flesh monster shenanigans! However, on the other hand, the optimistic way of looking at this could be that it seems as though all the factions Memoriae "likes" are on their side. I may have missed a few factions and might be mistaken here and there, but on the bright side, if it does come to war…is it really that bad if they get to exterminate all their enemies with the combined might of their allies? Then they need only worry about whether or not they can trust each other (prolly not!).

Oh, and I'm never going to get tired of hearing party members inquire about giant chickens. I am just that immature, thank you very much!

  2. Very well played Tasnarr. I was getting soooo annoyed with Chrys's self righteous attitude. But That IS Chrys, so the fact that I got annoyed with Chrys means she was RP'd very well. Awesome Job Tashnarr!

  3. Sooo is the giant tortoise (spirit) Tess' spirit guide or totem? Can't fully remember how it is with Lupines haven't looked at WtA since 1st or 2nd edition.
It would make sense since we already know that Tess is of lupine descent. She has clearly kept some of the abilities to pierce the veil and see and commune with spirits. Questions to be answered:
If she comes in contact with the tortoise and if it's her spirit guide will she then be able to cross over into the umbra/spiritworld?
How much of her connection to Gaia remains and how will it express itself?
    Food for thought.

  4. So, I dont know what happened in the last episode, but I do see an opportunity here. They border Gorbon, who isnt there and whos territory is up for grabs. They dont have the manpower themselves to cover that much area, however, they do have someone who feels like he has been unappreciated, seems extremely competent, and is likely looking for some respect (Mr Langdon). If memorie were to say to Mr Langdon We will help you take Gorbons territory in exchange for aid later, and then were to tell whoever is left in Gorbons territory you either work for Langdon, or we tell everyone Gorbon isnt here and the territory is anyones who can take it, they either get a friendly neighbor on the other side of the river, or get into the good books of whoever eventually takes the territory for giving them an advance notice its up for grabs. It may not be a priority, but seems like something that could be resolved reasonably quickly
