RAREST Obtainable Hunter Pets | Unique Pet Guide Ep. 2 | World of Warcraft BFA & Shadowlands

Episode 2 is here!!

A couple notes thanks to @Petra Meyer, spirit shock is being taken away from spirit beasts due to the return of tranquilizing shot, same with soothing water. I can’t find this on the interwebs but I trust him, he’s provided a lot of helpful info to the channel. Hunters mark will purge the invis on any trackable pets, so you can use that instead of freezing trap if you wish. Also, Ankha and Magria only appear once you progress the Cata Mt Hyjal questline, forgot to mention that one.

All pets in this video were suggested by YOU, the community, in my last RARE pet guide! So, I want to thank you all for contributing to the conversation. Y’all are amazing and I hope you stick around with me as I grow this channel! Lots of good stuff here, so stay tuned!

  1. I am just correcting/commenting on the important mistakes here:

    1. Spirt Beasts do not have Spirit Shock any longer in SL, because all Hunters get Tranquilising Shot back. SB now have a pretty lackluster self purge ability. Actually, all pet families with a similar ability, Waterstriders, Bats, etc will lose it.
    2. The Hyjal cats only appear once you reach a certain deep point in the Cataclysm Mt. Hyjal questline. You can NOT just fly over and hope to tame them.
    3. Hexapos: Soothing Water see point 1. Also, BM in SL gets Hunter's Mark back. As soon as you see him just slap an HM on it it will purge the invis. This is valid for all Pandaria tracking rare pets. And also for the Legion mechanical dog tames.

If you play a hunter or any class and use WoWhead you might want to read over the change reports for your class there now and then. Less ugly surprises.

  2. King Krush does have special requirements to tame him. He has a fear on a short CD that will interrupt your tame ability, almost every time you attempt to tame him. I don't know if the trick still applies today, but back when the expansion was current you needed a priest and a haste pot in order to tame him. Otherwise he would just keep interrupting your tame over and over again. Not to mention he is a huge mob so he doesn't go unnoticed for very long. Either he'll be tamed or killed in a short period of time.

  3. King Krush is the best don't see very well lol but have only seen 5 maybe 6 other hunters with King Krush. Karoma was my first spirit beast ahh the memories. Didn't know about the other white lion I feel like a hunter failure. Damn it Blizz wheres my 200 pet slots I'm a pet slut I need more slots. lol

  4. Thank you very much for your video. I just tamed Hexapos! Timing is really crucial here, if you can reach a just appearing mysterious track you need to flare, freeze trap and tame in quick succession.

  5. Just a little hint for a REAL RARE Pet for Hunters… jeah, it isn't obtainable anymore, but i think it was back in WotLK when you could tame a pet, which had the modell of a worgen from this time ^^ so the worgen model BEFORE Cata brought us our fury friends as playable Race… you had to do a view tricks to get it… i think it was a wolf in First form but if you tamed him with the correct timing or some other tricks (it's long ago so i don't recognize it well, sorry ^^) you could tame him so he got his humonoid worgen form… and this was the only time you could tame a humonoid as a pet ^^
If i remember correctly it was only about a few weeks when you could do this before blizzard fixed it… but in my recognizion the Hunters that tamed this "Pet" were allowed to keep it… but i'm not 100% sure…
But I think it should get at least an honorable mention in such "Rarest Hunter Pets" Videos 😉 Maybe for Episode 3 ^^

Edit: The Pet was Called "Garwal" and was located in the howling Fjord via a Quest, if you want to research for it

  6. I happened to get extremely lucky with Karoma on my hunter alt, formerly my main in Legion, which is when I tamed the beauty. I found him while I was in the area for Archeaology digging. This was a great video, and it helped me realize how lucky I was to straight up find him without trying.

  7. I'm surprised I haven't seen the Colossal Water Cobra yet! It's the same thing as Echeyakee. Only Horde players can access him from a side quest, The Source of the Problem, in Vol'dun. He's the only silver-colored snake in the game! If you don't tame him then… you can't get him. Ya lost your chance. I got him on my Alliance Hunter after I asked my friend to do the quest just so I can tame him. So get him while you can! He's a really cool lookin' snake 😀

  8. Here is the story about the original 'Karoma' wolves.

Back in burning crusade (patch 2.3 I think is when these were added), this model was spawned by grimtotem mobs in the north western corner of Dustwallow marsh. These were named "Grimtotem Spirit Guide."

They were mistakenly flagged as tameable, however they were only active for a verrrry short time. So you needed lots of help in order to tame them. You needed: A leatherworker with haste drums, A priest for mind control, and a shaman for bloodlust. You also needed a gem, the "Mystical Skyfire Diamond." The lowest level item you could get with a socket was a level 68 mail helm better suited for shamans. As alliance, you could obtain it from Allerian Stronghold through the use of the crystals(?) you got by controlling all the pvp towers in the bonewastes and the doing the dungeons within.

You needed the priest to mind control a grimtotem shaman so the wolves can be summoned at will. With the gem, heroism, and drums, you could get your cast time of tame beast to about 10 seconds, the same time that the wovles are active. You would have to swap hunter aspects in order to trigger the gem proc, and then activate everthing to get the timing perfect. There was no room for error.

No matter what, the tame would end just as the wolf 'dies' or de-spawns (it would make the death animation and be essentially dead). BUT, if you cast revive pet and the tame was successful, it would revive and be at your side at level 30! (Back in the day, you had to actually level your pet, and could only do so by killing mobs that would give YOU exp. I killed alot of bugs in zangarmarsh grinding those levels.)

I still have it to this day, the best pet out there. For a long time, their animations were broken, so they would speed walk towards your enemy rather than run.

Initially, a blue post said that they would not remove them (I have a screenshot of it somewhere, when blizz moved their forums the post was eaten). But then shortly after, the decision was reversed and a hotfix removed the ability to tame them by replacing them with a completely different mob. Hunters who got them could keep them, but people were -pissed-. I am still kinda pissed, there is no challenge tame that was as hard or exciting as getting the Grimtotem Spirit Guide back in BC. The reasoning was that "it hurt the aesthetic and feel of hunters". But then LOL in Wrath they added spirit beasts. Took them until cata to add karoma.

I'm glad people can tame the model, but I find ferocity more useful. If you hunt around you can find stuff about it, such as a few articles about it and the wowhead page for "Grimtotem Spirit Guide". I cant seem to find a good legit video talking about this, maybe I should make one, lmao.

  9. Hexapos took me two days and for some reason I would only see his tracks to the south. And half the time the tracks were buried in the hill so it made it even more annoying even with ground clutter at the lowest setting g. But it ended up being the most fun/frustrating to get. And from what Ive seen, it’s the only one of its type that is white.

  11. i don't know if it's mentioned elsewhere in the comments but, karoma shares the same model as grimtotem spirit guide. guide was tameable for a very short period of time and it was a REAL pain in the ass to tame it ( you needed bloodlust, troll haste buff and another haste buff which came from a gem that procs randomly, so imagine lining all up) but unlike karoma, it is not a spirit beast and shares the basic abilities of a regular wolf.

i proudly own one by the way, Tingoz – Emeriss EU if you are interested.

    keep up the good work.

  12. I mean in both videos I saw a lot of really cool pets but unique? Not really. A lot of em, the spirit beasts especially you can see a ton of them in SW at any one time. My idea of unique are pets that you don't see. My ghost worm from Storm Peaks comes to mind. I have yet come across another hunter with it.
