The rare spawns come up every 20mins and in a set order and I think there's about 20+ of them so takes about 7hours to do the loop of them all.

Handy notes has a scourge invasion addon that tells you the location, loot table, and spawn order of all rares. Also if you are farming mobs for scourge stones, the easiest way is to farm them around the next rare that is about to spawn. There is always plenty of people to help without the need to group up, just tag them and move on to the next. Also kill the rare spawn. I geared up a fresh character in about an hour, give or take, with this method.
the battle pet is a waste. price tanked in the first few hours

I don't see these Pets as being anything more than than the Iron Starletts years ago. You can still today get them very easily and that's why they have never really gone up in value.
you should check out "Accursed Keepsake" it's a low drop chance from rares in icecrown and it isn't BoP so it would probably fetch a good price.
