From my perspective, the reason you don't take damage from fire on the ground is your resistance. You calculate damage you're resistant to by halving it and rounding it down, so half of 1 is 0, because it was rounded down.
That opening scene is great, really makes you wince because you see the Githyaki suffer and then its YOUR turn…
If you took that brain out he would have been your ally for the up coming battles

you spend ten minutes picking out your avatar, and as soon as they give you a lady you're like "That's good, I'm done"
I used Us (the intellect devourer) as a meat shield in battle and it died before even leaving the nautiloid. A useful investment!

This is much different style of gameplay I remember from the first baldurs gate, not upset though
I personally think you should have done female to do things differently and give the female side a spotlight
