  1. I never had a lot of money to spend on arcades growing up, but the one I always remember playing was the double screen X-Men. If you could get a full roster going at the same time, it was epic.

  2. There weren't many arcades where I grew up in the 90s but just watching other people play Marvel vs Capcom was so amazing to me. It was Saturday morning cartoons come alive.

  3. Always happy when you make these nostalgic video game videos as they bring back great memories of my childhood as well. One of the biggest reasons I love Limited Run Games too as they are able to take the time to put some of these games on a physical format for us gamers who don't always care for the digital game only era that we're quickly moving in to.

  4. My dad would always walk to the local deli to get his sandwiches and he would give my sister and me a quarter to go play either Donkey Kong or Ms. Pac-Man. But my best memory was going to the local laundromat with my mom and I saw Marvel versus Capcom and I played the hell out of that game until our clothes were dried out. That arcade game alone is what got me into fighting games.

  6. True enough as I always feel a stab in the heart when I drive by a mall, convenient store or grocery store that back in the day that had an arcade or a few arcade games that sadly faded into obscurity when the home consoles became powerful enough to play the video games just as well. Progress is great but you can't help but feel a little sorrow on some of the things that became obsolete because of it.

  7. Loved this episode! I grew up after the arcade era but I can only imagine how fun the arcades were in that time! I enjoyed the couch co-op era though which a lot of those games were probably influenced by these games!

  8. I used to beat it with one quarter also. I spent tons of $$ playing it. It was located in a supermarket in Puerto Rico like in the 80s, 90s when i was a kid. I also beat other arcades with one quarter. Robocop, Karnov, double dragon 1 n 2, Silk Worm, etc etc. Im 42. Lol

  9. Ninja Warriors was created as a means to re-use the 3 screen cabinets developed for Darius (also a Taito game). Guess which game I think was 10/10. 😉

Darius would get numerous sequels, eventually culminating in the amazing Darius Burst: Another Chronicle EX+ which still has the 3 screen layout and supports up to 4 players. The recent home ports which maintain the arcade aspect ratio are simply awesome.

  11. When I was a kid and my parents were separated my Dad would pick me up on certain weekends and take me down to Times Square from the Bronx. They had this magical place buried in between the strip clubs and penny slots called PLAYLAND. A creepy guy with a dirty cigar would walk around with a giant metal belt that held quarters and if you gave him some dollars he would press out the change in quarters and my dad would just let me walk around. Ikari Warriors, Space Harrier, TMNT IV out of time, Golden Axe, Altered Beast, Commando, all the greats…..this video brought back some fond memories….Thanks

  12. Picked up Ninja Warriors and Shinobi because of you, Johnny. I really need to try Magician Lord sometime and I hope the Aliens game eventually makes its way to PC/consoles. Some of my most memorable arcade games are Mercs, Crusin USA, Street Fighter II, Virtua Fighter II, Time Crisis series, Dungeons & Dragons, San Francisco Rush, and Virtual On.

  14. I remember decades ago we had an arcade here in downtown Toronto (if anyone here remembers it I will be surprised). I remember going with friends a few times, I think I recall seeing the Dungeons and Dragons game, one of them, there. Now the downtown core was cleaned up and I'm glad it was but I really wish someone would open up an aracde there once again.
However first time I saw an arcade I think I was with my mom and we were in a convenience store and there I saw Street Fighter II. I remember picking 'the green monster' and trying it out.
