IMO it was 2000
2007: Halo 3, Mass Effect, Mario Galaxy, CoD4, Pokemon Diamond and Pearl. That lineup alone is legendary.
1979 because Asteroids.

I like how you mentioned dragon quest as a game released in 1986 and then show dragons lair.
The PS2 Slim is the most aesthetically pleasing console ever (and so damn tiny).
The thumbnail says it all: 1998 is the best year.

97 for me but I grew up with a Super Nintendo and ps1 so I'm a little biased
Pretty much anything that isn’t modern has my vote. So sick of BR games.
It was a pleasure to be alive in 1998.
I actually had Barbie Fashion Designer. I didn't have any Barbies so I don't know who was trying to make me be more ladylike but they failed. It did set me on a path of upcycling my own clothes before it was called upcycling mind. So there's that.
Also I picked up some print your own masks from Primark and the fabric stuff is genuinely the same. I'm pretty certain it must be leftovers from that game or someone had some good childhood memories and decided to capitalise on it.
98 was amazing
Good list, those were good years. I'll go with 2001 because I loved the PS2 and that is because of this little gems:
