Sorry I disagree with this sor was its own game
Final fight was trash
"better than the ones they ripped off"
Then why is Candy Crap Saga here? I thought the whole point of this list was games that are BETTER than the ones they ripped off, not WORSE.
Fuck Candy Crap Saga. It's just Bejeweled with microtransactions.
RE and Dead Space
The only one I disagree with is Ms. Pac-Man because the original game is already the greatest arcade game of the 1980's
There's nothing wrong with League of Legends and Minecraft everything for god's sake!!
10. Streets of Rage (based on Final Fight – 1989)
9. SimCity (based on Utopia – 1981)
8. Ms Pac-Man (based on Pac-Man (1980) and Crazy Otto – unreleased)
7. FarmVille (based on Farm Town – 2009)
6. League of Legends (based on Defense of the Ancients – 2003)
5. Angry Birds (based on Crush the Castle – 2009)
4. Candy Crush Saga (based on Bejeweled series – 2001-2006)
3. Guitar Hero (based on GuitarFreaks – 1999)
2. Pong (based on Table Tennis – 1972)
1. Minecraft (based on Infiniminer – 2009)
Though you probably couldn't add them due to copyright reasons, there are some rom-hacks that deserve an honourable mention.
Calling them as "Rip-offs" is so harsh.
From where do i get Infiniminer?
Ms Pacman, NOT Mrs Pacman.
Crush the Castle was fucking great, so much fun
Code Name: Viper, based on Rolling Thunder.
Minecraft is 2009 not 2011
Never knew streets of rage was a RIP off its way better my childhood
I love Guitar Hero that's my game for the PS2 because it has most of them!!!!
Final Fight wishes it could be Streets Of Rage.
hytale based on minecraft
No way is Streets of Rage better than Final Fight.
Streets of rage is far superior than final fight
Guitar Freaks is still going in arcades today, mainly in Japan. But Round 1 arcades in the U.S. have it too.
It's Ms. Pac-Man, not Mrs.
FYI, there are several other rip-offs that Watchmojo and Mojoplays didn’t mentioned, such as Nexon’s CrazyRacing Kartrider (rip-off of Nintendo’s Mario Kart) and Andamiro’s Pump it Up (rip-off of Konami’s Dance Dance Revolution)
GuitarFreaks, despite not being available outside of Japan, isn’t discontinued. The latest game in its series “Gitadora High-Voltage”, despite not released in some countries like North America, is still one of the most popular franchises in Japan. It’s a combination of Guitar Freaks and Drummania
My favorite successful ripoff was Streets of Rage. Props to Yuzo Koshiro to composed the best soundtracks on all 4 games in the franchise. My favorite character was Blaze Fielding and I love playing as her.
