It’s tough to write a good game. There’s a lot to handle: dozens of characters, a world to build, moral choices and branching paths to consider, much of which takes place over dozens and dozens of hours of gameplay. It’s amazing that as many well-written games exist at all, but that’s no reason not to list some of the most egregious, frustrating, lazy, and just plain dumb oversights and plotholes in modern gaming. What does that mean? It means that God of War, Call of Duty, Legend of Zelda, Pokemon, and yes, of course, Mass Effect, are all due for a reckoning. If Kratos can time travel why doesn’t he save his family? Why doesn’t Mr. Mime use Recycle to create a bountiful utopia free of need or destitution? How come every lauded hero in World of Warcraft starts their career in the “freelance mass murdered and pig rib collector” sector of the Azerothian economy. Actually, while we’re at it: Why does Isle Delfino’s legal system blow the Mushroom Kingdom’s out of the water?
Don’t get me wrong, I love a lot of these games… but seriously, it’s worth going back and reviewing the most hare-brained head-scratching story flubs and general oversights made during the creation of some of Video Gaming’s greatest achievements. Oh, and in case you’re wondering: Aerith should be alive.

  1. Well, if Kratos went back in time to save his family, then he would have never had to go on a journey of vengeance in the first place. He would never be able to save his family, due to the fact that they were the catalyst to him becoming the God of War.

  2. You conveniently forgot to mention that Ethan's Blackouts in Heavy Rain were confirmed to be a cut plot point tied to the supernatural. It doesn't excuse the fact that it was left in, but it was explained…. just not IN-game. 🤷‍♂️

  3. First your right about Mario, Second Don't overthink it it's Mario plus it didn't ruin the game cause no one thought of that, and second, Princess Peaches Toads are too afraid to do anything that why they don't have any form of government.

  4. Lot of opinions not alot of plot holes, and in Mass Effect 3 it's clearly stated they brought the citadel to Earth because it's deep inside Reaper controlled territory.

  5. Just gonna say the legend of Zelda ones aren’t valid there are full fledged theories on the timeline. It’s been proven the legend of Zelda games exist on several different timelines. Please educate yourself on the topic
