Honestly, I'm surprised games like Pitfall, Silent Hill (knowing we're talking about Resident Evil) and Bioshock were not nominated on this list as well.
A few of those previously nominated makes more sense to me than this years. If I was to guess I’d say flight simulator, farmville, starcraft, and call of duty are what will get in, regardless of my feelings.
Did those voters even consider Adventure, Berzerk, or Missile Command? Those three games are like the great-grandparents of their genres. P.S. And what about Super Breakout?
Looks to me like some random journalist did a basic Google search and just picked the paid popular title, or looked for the game with the best looking commercial ad. This list is just catering to the group associated with it. Group inclusion trophies. That's mostly what I see from the lists.
Of the entrees on this list, I would choose "Call Of Duty", "Guitar Hero", "Carmen Sandiego", and "Pole Position". I'm surprised that Farmville is even on this list, as I mainly remember that being a fad from 2009 to 2011. Perhaps people are still playing Farmville and their accomplishments in the game simply just aren't showing up on facebook news feeds anymore.
"Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego" should definitely be in the Video Game HOF alongside inductee "The Oregon Trail" for its innovation in regards to mixing education and gameplay.
As for the rest of the list, I could see "Flight Simulator" and "Portal", but I would switch "Guitar Hero" with "PaRappa the Rapper". That game gave birth to the music/rhythm genre, and without it, there wouldn't be "Guitar Hero" or even "Dance Dance Revolution" for that matter.
Portal is a fine Valve choice, I guess, but I’d go for Team Fortress 2 or Half-Life before Portal. Also yeah, MGS1 and Super Mario World need to be inducted ASAP.
I would pick Portal, CoD, Animal Crossing, StarCraft. Of those I've only ever played Portal but the others have been big franchises. I'd nominate Guitar Hero as well even though I never played it it's still special to me cause it reminds me of some old friends I made when I worked at a Game X Change who I lost touch with over the years.
Wow still no Metroid? That game created its own subgenre. What about Ocarina of Time? That game is still hailed by many fans and critics as simply the greatest video game of all time. How about Pitfall? I could go on and on but the bottom line is that this is one fucktard hall of fame.
I would agree 100% with all these games on the list except CoD, and the only reason i hate that franchise now is cause i hate online multiplayer, its just not my thing, but back when CoD had decent sp modes it was good, damn good actually.
The Hall of Fame should make an honorable mention list of all the titles that won Arkies (Arcade Awards) from Electronic Gaming Magazine circa 1980. -1984, as these games were actually judged in their time and not through the lens of hindsight which has a way of overlooking the importance of the moment. This is like trying to hand out an Oscar today for best picture for 1940 based on today’s tastes and audience. For this reason, I think this Hall of Fame may always suffer from a aura of artifice. Plus, with only 4 entries per year and so many great titles to catch up and account for, games like SM3 may never get in.
From these games I would choose Pole Position, Carmen Sandiego. But this seems like a poor list. I would pick Super Metroid, Super Mario World, Dragon Warrior , Phantasy Star
Kind of impressed to see Colossal Cave Adventure and King's Quest there. Maybe The Secret of Monkey Island will be in 2022. =D As for Mario, there are technically three Mario series titles in the hall already if you count Donkey Kong, so I'm thinking the hall wants to not seem like it's just favouring Nintendo. The lack of presense from either Konami or Capcom is a (besides Street Fighter of course) is a bit weird though. Besides Resident Evil and MGS, I'm honestly shocked there's no Castlevania or Mega Man on here either.
Tomb Raider doesn’t belong in any hall of fame.
Where is Castlevania, Bubble Bobble, Ms Pac-Man, Q*Bert, Contra, etc etc..Yet Bejweled and Mortal Kombat is here? This is a shit hall of fame.

Farmville? WTF!?!?!?
True about COD. At least they actually can say former President George W. Bush actually played it with marines on a visit.
My personal picks out of the options there would be… Pole Position, Tron, Carmen Sandiego, and… probably Portal.

sigh Hard to care about this after looking at the 2020 winners.
Mega Man, Q-Bert, Pitfall, Tecmo Super Bowl
