  1. This is a video I have been wanting to make for a while. But since it's a different format from my regular videos on singular lore topics I've posted it on Thursday as bonus content. This saturday there will once more be a regular normal format lore video.

  2. I have a feeling that Elder Scrolls is becoming less lore focused, there's a lot of conflicting information in ESO to the main series, so I feel like these will not be answered in canon unfortunately. Great vid as per usual.

  3. Skyrim lore has a lot of potholes and dumbed down a lot interesting and deep concepts. I hope in TES 6 they learn from older games like Daggerfall, it had an awesome main quest.

  4. What if TES VI is based in Hammerfell during the Great War after The Treaty was signed between Empire and Dominion so you’re helping Hammerfell against the Dominion. I know doesn’t make lots of sense but I’d love that especially if you had large multi-objective dynamic battles in the desert. That would be fun which kinda makes me sad that I doubt it’ll happen.

  5. From what I understood, the unmaking of Mundus isn't done with the intention to reshape it- but to permanently destroy the mortal plane all together in the belief that they would escape Mundus and return to the shape of undiluted souls (Et'Ada) that they believe they came from.

  6. Maybe it is both the Thalmor want. On one hand dominating the Material plan while working on a longterm goal of bringing the elven race back to their "elevated state".

  7. An important question is what's the Direnni's position regarding the Thalmor.
I think most altmer agree with the Thalmor in a lot of ample concepts, like "enough with the human domination of Tamriel" and "Tiber Septim was an asshole, not a god", but also think the Thalmor took it waaay too far.

  8. I'm sure a dev mentioned TES 6 would be in an area where orcs come from and I think he said it would be in part of Hammerfell.

This info came from an interview with the youtuber 'ESO' and I might have misheard or misinterpreted something so take this with a grain of salt.

  9. For the Thalmor goals neither has to overwrite the other they could very well seek both at the same time. Some members of the Aldmeri Dominion the overall government wanting to simply rule over Tamriel, While other members or simply the Thalmor leadership themselves secretly want to destroy the world because they believe they'll become Gods if they do. The Thalmor and Aldmeri Dominion are not a single entity they're a government and collection of groups that could very well have separate goals in mind. It wouldn't even be unheard of in lore the First Aldmeri Dominion went into Civil War with its own subjects going rogue because of differences in philosophy and goals for the races of Mer.

  10. I would not be surprised if some even-more-radical factions within the Thalmor had the goal of unmaking the world, but it may not be the goal of the Thalmor as a whole.

  11. Thanks for the video, IK! Your videos are always well-done and informative! o7

I hope TES VI takes place after TES V and answers these questions!
Right now it's just a huge mystery. sigh

Also, I feel bad for the Orcs of Orsinium. ;(

  12. I think the Thalmor's goal is to exterminate every race with the exception of the Altmer. They don't want to rule over lesser races, they want to eradicate them. After the humans, the Orcs and Dunmer. Then Argonians. Then the Bosmer and Kahjit. They want to re-create the ancient Aldmer race as the only race inhabiting all the provences.

The idea that destroying towers built by mortals could "unmake the world" seems absurd. And "those towers have lots of magic in them" does not make it any less absurd.

I don't think the Thalmor are content with ruling over men. The existence of men is intolerable to them. They are genocidal.

  13. My interpretation has always been it’s a little of both theories, they want to bring about a new Merethic Era of elven dominance in the world, and they think they can do it by sundering the towers. I suspect this wouldn’t actually work but that they think it would, a classic “meddling with forces they don’t fully understand” thing. Assuming they do believe the things the theory alleges but are mistaken about the details, it becomes a much more rational motive. They likely think it will be devastating for man but mer will be fine because of their Anuic ancestry, when in actuality it’s probably just the apocalypse for all involved. So they think they’re just taking the world over (or more aptly rule the new world in the aftermath), when actually they’ll just destroy it.
