About Subnautica:
Subnautica is an open world survival game in development by Unknown Worlds Entertainment.
Subnautica allows the player to explore an aquatic alien planet by scuba diving and traveling in, while collecting resources and food to survive. It was released on Steam Early Access on December 16, 2014.The Xbox release was in August 2016.

The player controls in first-person view the lone survivor of a crashed ship on an aquatic planet. The main objective of the player is to explore the open world environment and survive the dangers of the planet, while also continuing the story.
Subnautica allows the player to collect resources, construct tools, bases, and submersibles, and interact with the planet’s wildlife.
Players must keep themselves adequately hydrated and fed, and must also maintain their oxygen supply while traversing underwater. They disvocer remnants of the Precursors, an anchient alien species, that used to live on the planet, massive structures and recieve mysterious signals by a strange entity.
The development team opted to use the Unity engine rather than Spark, the engine used for the company’s previous game, Natural Selection 2. Subnautica producer Hugh Jeremy justified this decision because of the different demands that the game places on the engine, and “because [the team] does not include people working on Spark, it’s not appropriate for Subnautica to use Spark.
By using Unity for Subnautica,Spark can continue to develop in certain directions, while Subnautica develops in others. To use Spark for Subnautica would be to try and square peg a round hole.”

Subnautica was released on Steam Early Access on December 16, 2014.Subnautica was originally planned to be released on Xbox One on April 1, 2016, but was ultimately delayed by another month.

  1. I would love for them to continue making games in an expanded universe even if it's not an aquatic-themed game. So it'd be the same universe with Alterra and the Precursors, but which are thematically closer in premise to Rimworld, Cowboy Bebop, Firefly, Star Trek or whatever. Instead of Thassalophobia: The Video Game, they could make Space: No One Can Hear You Scream or Bounty Hunter: The Space Cowboy.

I could easily see a survival game framed around keeping it together in a zero gee environment, where you experience vertigo and all your resources are in a closed-system. The air can get stale. The heat from the machinery has no place to go, because you're on a sealed tin can. Your ship got blown off course, it is damaged, you have no fuel and you're slowly drifting into the nearest gravity well. Generally speaking, falling into gravity wells are not fun. Since those tend to be terrible mind-breaking things like gas giants or black holes. Or if you're lucky, it's a barren planet that snows methane. Or it is a pressure cooker covered in volcanic lakes.

Or you could play a Marguerite Maida prequel. Since her story implies she was a revolutionary, folk hero or vigilante at some point in her career. Our girl murdered a ton of Alterra scientists with an improvised weapon because they were trying to bioengineer the Kharaa bacteria. She's got an interesting life story, to say the least.

Probably one of the most terrifying moments of the sublime I experienced were parts of Mass Effect 1 where I was on a barren moon somewhere and I'd look up and I'd see a gas gas giant dominating the sky in all its terrible majesty. That. You could build an entire game around that desolate feeling of loneliness and insignificance out in the stars. Where one small tear in your suit means suffocation and one misstep means that you could trip on a rock and get flung out of the gravity well of a moon and out into the black void. There are planets out in the universe where, instead of water, there are rock vapors that boil into the atmosphere and rain back down as stones. Because that planet is just that close to a star. Space is scary.

Plus, you could throw in references to the Subnautica games. For example the Cuddlefish is now a popular zoo attraction and an exotic pet for the wealthy, courtesy of Alterra. And you'd hear about Ryley is a survivor celebrity in much the same way you heard stories about Craig McGill. He braved the terrible aquatic depths of 4546B! Punched a Reaper leviathan in the face! Discovered eldritch alien ruins! And cured the Kharaa plague!

  2. I kinda hope they make a game about Al-An. Al-An will be the main characted and we will explore the Architect homeworld and find out what happened to other Architects, with or AS Al-An. It would be cool to use a super alien wepons against giant creatures.

And it could be a bit more philosophical journey. We saw Robin and Al-An talk about those things, so why not?

  3. a bit of spoilers
you know sunbeam it could be a third subnautica where it takes events right after end of first game
but i really enjoy exploring the game and ignore the story cause theres little to no games that has underwater exploration like this but too bad its limited world size and not randomly generated or then you reach maps edge you could swim further to enter a map zone to select where you want to travel and then the world generates a new map biomes to explore

  4. I hope they make a new shooter that would be awesome! In the Game the could have weapons skins that have the colours and textures from a Leviathan from Subnautica like the Ghost Leviathan that would be a cool skin!

  5. I'd love a third game where you play as one of the Architects setting up bases in one of 4546B's sectors, trying to find the ideal locations, ultimately reaching a climax where the player builds a phasegate, and goes to The Crater just in time to see the Sea Dragon destroy the DRF, and release the Kharra Bacteria
While the bases aren't requirements, they are very useful, as the player can build mining sites and power plants, which automate the resource collecting process, and the phasegate is v e r y expensive.
Throughout the game you also have to worry about hostile fauna interrupting your base construction, and maybe even destroying your smaller settlements. There's 3 architect vehicles (2 sea, 1 land). The first sea vehicle is very similliar to the Seatruck, but with more cyclops elements. The other sea vehicle is similliar to a PRAWN Suit. The land vehicle is very similliar to the seatruck as well, but is a land vehicle.
The area in question has two maIn parts: The Hot area and The Cold area. The Hot area has more land, but a lot of water as well, while The Cold area has more water, but with a few large ice-bergs.

  6. If there was a third game i would love to see 1 where its gonna go really deep. like below zero was only around half depth of original subnautica so it would be cool if the third 1 were like almost at the bottom of the void with leviathans at 300-400 meters lenght

  7. Would it be possible to have old creatures in below zero or below zero creatures in fauna in the base game? I would love to see the huge variety of creatures just from first game alone so seeing a lot of creatures would be refreshing to play both for the original and below zero

  8. It would be amazing if they made a third Subnautica game in time. They still have plenty of great ideas for creatures and technology that have been cut from the two previous games for lack of space that might finally see the light of day and have their chance to shine. But then I wouldn’t mind if they stopped after the third one and made other projects.
