  1. I just want to play a Lich character. Werewolves need help. Vampires tended to be overpowered. They needed another option to become a Lich. I would be satisfied with that.

  2. Overall good video but there are some points i dont agree on, the main one being Alteration. Now in skyrim magic is preety well categorized – illusion affects mind, when Alteration changes reality. Destruction focuses on… Causing destruction and restoration on the opposite. And ofc the Conjuration which is unique to all others.

  3. Hello PCOutcast! Firstly, you can blame BeliSaurus for recommending your channel. 😉

My ideal TES VI formula is pretty simple: I want the writing of Morrowind, the side quests of Oblivion, and the QoL changes of Skyrim. Will I get it? We'll see.

Todd Howard recently did an interview where (to paraphrase) he admitted that the voiced protagonist was a mistake, so I can't really see them rehashing that. The reaction from the community was 'meh' at best about the VP on FO4, and I get the sense Bethesda knows this.

The Alteration School. You brought up a really good point, and I hadn't considered the possibility of Bethesda removing another school of magic. Here's what sprang to mind when you said that: contrast the vanilla Alteration School with Alteration as implemented by modders like EnaiSiaion (Odin, Apocalypse) and SimonMagus616 (Mysticism). If Bethesda is smart, they'll look at what modders have done with Alteration and run with it.

Paid Mods. Im not worried about the paid mod apocalypse, here's why (and you touched on this): Bethesda has been desperately trying to beef up the company on paper to facilitate its sale, which they've accomplished. Skyrim has been resold in multiple editions and on multiple platforms because of mods. Mods drive sales of both software and consoles, and both Bethesda and MS are aware of that. MS in particular has got to play catchup to Sony in numbers of consoles sold this generation, and I doubt very seriously they're going to endanger the persistent revenue stream that a moddable TES VI would provide. Creation Club did the best on the Playstation, which got the shaft for mods thanks to Sony's policies.

I'd suggest looking more deeply into Altman's time with Bethesda. I'm not going to speak ill of the deceased, but I'll let you draw your own conclusions. Suffice to say, I believe Altman's vision was at odds with a corporate culture that was interested in making good RPG's. For a better example, look at what EA has done/is doing with BioWare and Dragon Age. I think Bethesda dodged that bullet.

Forgive my extremely long-winded response, but you brought up a number of interesting points. Im glad BeliSaurus recommended your channel as I've been thoroughly enjoying your content! Cheers!

  4. I agree on you on Alteration, but I just hope they add more spells to it, instead of getting rid of it, because it's my favorite school of magic and has a lot of potential imo. Same with speech. There were good ideas but it's concept was far away from being finished.

  5. Sad to hear about alteration, even though i only ever use it for the flesh spells (paralyze is moved to illusion due to a mod i use). Building could work depending on utility. If we can build things that can assist/augment what we're going for build-wise then it could be a good thing. Even moreso if we could build anywhere like in Fallout 76. Doing away with modding would be a serious mistake, mods are a part of the reason people are STILL playing Skyrim and previous games.

  6. Todd has already said that voiced protagonist won't return because it doesn't work well. The other thing that he stated in a recent interview is that they want to bring back to magic of discovery and that feeling of working up from nothing in morrowind. They seem to be trying to make a game more like morrowind and less like oblivion, which I think is the best option. All of your negatives have been disproven by Bethesda themselves. Also modding will not go payed only, they would never recover from that considering that's why 20-30% of people play their games.

  7. Good opinion piece, PCoutcast

I think myself think there is a good chance free mods will go bye bye and as such ES6 will not be a game I am willing to play.

Truthfully B-Softs game systems are usually buggy and dated its only a combination of writing and mods, sometimes music that make them worth the time. MS/BS won't improve them all that much

And yes sure Creation Club stuff isn't bad I've even paid for a some of it but its not s substitute for the modding community.

Also while the F04 voice talent was actually quite good and the dialog tree issues could be fixed with mods, its story was for many people "once or twice and dump." My guess is MS/BS will want to get as close to games as service as possible, add enough microtransactions to make EA wince and rake in the merch money. That's fine but they can count me out if that is the case, I have tons of other games to play and enjoy before I even have to replay anything.

That said if they allow for robust modding and do a decent job with the rest, I'm all in.

  8. unless they limit what race you can play, there wont be a voiced player character. Especially since they have given races specific dialect (notably the Khajit). So it would go one of two ways, they let you play a cat that has the same voice as a Nord, breaking the worldbuilding they have made not only in Skyrim but ESO as well, or they cut out a popular playable race, which would anger fans even more.

2nd is limiting the modding community. I don't see it happening, Bethesda has one of the largest modding communities out there. Not releasing the modding tools would hurt that reputation.

  9. As long as those old dogs like Emil, Pete Hines and Todd are in Bethesda, I honestly don't expect TES6 will be the next "RPG" GOTY. The whole watering down of the game will be its downfall. People have been making wishlists for TES6 on Reddit and other websites I think Bethesda is stupid if they don't hear out their fans. It's depressing that the Elder Scrolls have such deep, yet underutilized lore.

  10. always will Eat me alive inside whenever real good RPG solid mechanics got to be Watered down into Oblivion just appease the brain dead shallow Call of duty mentality audience that is ruining everything that is pure and beauty about a good gaming experience
just Cancerous dark times for RPG gaming

really hope that a miracle will surprise me with TES6 if is not too much to dream

  11. Two things I would like to see get done better in ES6:

    1. Fix the invisible walls when sniping from high places. I don't know how many times I've tried to use my bow from the shadows atop a high area and found the attack was negated because it hit an invisible wall that really shouldn't be there.

    2. Apparel clipping. To be fair, Bethesda did do this kinda half-heartedly with some armors but a lot of apparel you mix and match just clips right through each other. It wasn't all that big of a deal but I really hope they can find a practical solution to making sure future games don't have it where hair is clipping through apparel when it shouldn't be.
