  1. Incase you scroll to the comments and click off right away.
I don't support people breaking NDA and illegally leaking information.
I also don't support abusing Youtube's terrible Copyright Strike system to threaten creators who are simply talking of now public knowledge (talking/numbers only, no gameplay footage etc).
    Happy Day!

  2. Leaks are healthy and positive for developers that aren't as open as we would like them to be like Mihoyo. With no real content all we have are characters and they are a nice shiny new toy coming soon

  3. Publicly available doesn’t mean published man go watch Zeals

  4. This is exactly the problem, they’re putting the blame entirely on the community with no statement on self accountability. Let’s approach this logically, all technology companies are expected to be competent with their data. This is not an industry expectation, it’s much larger in scope where every major country has set Governmental expectations for data security and data governance. Now, this seems unrelated since this isn’t customer information that was exposed. But, this is the nature of the business, this is the baseline competence that software engineers are supposed to understand, that people are going to try to do things that they aren’t supposed to be allowed to do. And the most ridiculous aspect of all of this is that you didn’t get hacked, you EXPOSED IT PUBLICLY. Okay if you make a decision like that you better have your shit together and have tested this repeatedly at every edge case before releasing. Data mining games has been the most common data leaking mechanism forever. Call of duty world at war zombies Easter egg mining was when this came to the forefront for even non technical gamers. All this has done has exposed Mihoyo’s incompetence as a software product and damages their reputation, not to mention trust which is everything when you are storing people’s account and payment information.

  5. Leaks can be such a huge marketing tool to drum up hype. I'm not cool with breaking NDA at all but this coulda been handled differently and if it was MiHoYo's mistake, they should address that and learn from it. I always take leaks with a grain a salt as it's not finished content. you set yourself up for disappointment if you don't

  6. Man that’s crazy. At least watch the damn content first. Keep going dude, contents great as usual 👍 and like someone else has already mentioned I know to save my gems for Eula 🤓

  7. Sure blame Mihoyo for trusting players over paid workers to test their beta game.

If I'm preparing a surprise birthday party or gift for someone, and involved similar minded people to see what they really like.
Leaking about its content and spreading the word, ruining the birthday surprise, you all are the villain in my eyes.

  8. I think Mihoyo should have a "spoiler season", where they reveal the design (but not the motion values) of new units, which happens before the beta testing…
This way they have control over marketing on how new units first appear, and won't have to worry about leaks.
Users that want to avoid "spoilers" can do so.

  9. They hate leaks because they dont like us to be prepared and saving or skipping the current banner. They want us to do impulse purchase ,people usually dont think twice to spend money when they see new shiny beautiful products. Classic dirty psychology tricks

  10. I just finished watching the video. Dude you really don't need to cover leaks it's not worth it. As a fellow content creator and a fan of your channel I would be really dissapointed if I lose your channel or if you lose your channel. I only watch a couple of you top tier channels for legit guides and thoughts.

  11. I was really considering playing genshin because of your coverage, but the fact that they did this is making me rethink even bothering with them. I am tired of these companies treating us like we owe the our money.

  12. Genshin Impact's problem isn't leaks it is a lack of content causing a lack of interest over time. It starts and end with the fact you have to keep people engaged in your game if it isn't a one and done. This from someone who isn't changing anything based off the leaks. I didn't care about Hu Tao and don't care about the new characters. I stay very selective in the characters I chase. That doesn't mean I never change my mind, but I rarely do. I'm pulling for Rosaria and hopefully get her without hitting pity as I don't care about Childe. I want to save for hopefully a Zhongli return banner. If I have enough and Yanfei looks good, then I may pull. Otherwise I'm saving for the next interesting character.

As to leaks as a thing themselves I'm all for it to a point. Though I do agree you sign an NDA then you don't disclose. Outside of that is all free game. And as I allude above, it becomes something to keep people engaged and potentially hyped. They need to figure something out as success like this is rare in the first place and doesn't last if they don't. If they keep people playing and thus keep a healthy number of players, then that is actually a good thing.

  13. But your wrong there they can take legal action if your spreading leaks if you didn't sign a NDA. There is definitely some nitt picking things Mihoyo lawyers can do with their "intellectual property" which they own the rights to.

  14. I don't think leakers and leaks are necessary in this day and age, but if they signed they signed. With all the social platforms available anyone who plays, knows, or is interested in the game will be easily connected. Game developers can very easily tease and release trailers to create excitement for their game and new content. They can give us something now and then to keep us in the loop. If it is inevitable I don't particularly think there's a need to punish people if there is no real damage occurring to the game or the company's brand.

I do agree when information that is not finalized gets leaked people start anticipating it in it's current state and then get all offended when it ends up not being what they thought it was going to be. Even more so when they personally do not like it but is not the universal consensus. Worse if they have a social media following and start spreading it in a highly subjective manner.

There's more to making a game and new content (especially when expanding a game) than just making something new that players like/want. When the game is already made they are constrained by the current combat and world conditions (unless introducing something new to the systems themselves.) They have to make sure nothing gets broken and creates huge, unintentional swings in the balance of the game and then have to back pedal and fix it later.

Overall I think leaks and leakers are fine if they are, like rumors, treated as LEAKS. If you get mad about it because it ends up differently sorry you're dumb because you believed it at face value. Something that happens way too much today.

Personally as a story/RPG player and an active player of Honkai Impact for about a year now I don't need leaks and player generated hype to keep me playing these two games. I know the content is going to be fun and Mihoyo has yet to truly disappoint me and so I just keep going along until the next drop comes. As for Primogems I do buy the monthly card and the tier 1 BP, but that's it. I don't really save. If there's something I want I pull. If there isn't I don't. If I don't have enough…well…it's not going to ruin the game for me.

Sorry for the rant on a ranty video. xP

  15. As a relatively new player I’m sad about the leaks. I’ve been playing for about 1.5 months and people are only talking about them instead of the Mondstadt Festival. You may never be happy if you are always looking to the future. 🙂

  16. Normally I shit on Mihoyo all the time because of lazy development and how I could program such a tower defense game in 3-4 days… But, data mining and leaking about something is an illegal move here, especially when you are such an a**hole and leak everything on the first day of the new patch! Or are you okay with it if your credit card info got somehow in a google doc folder and someone else is using your Creditcard now because… hey it was an accident and clearly your fault… says everything about these days Internet culture. I am just thinking about the devs who made a mistake and get shit pretty hard by the management now! Only because someone needs a little bit more fame and a few hundred bugs! Hopefully, nobody lost his/her FUCKING job!!! FML

  17. Do leaks hurt the game? Only when stuff like 1.4 comes along. What I mean is, if it had been 1.4 that was leaked in advance like how 1.5 was, a lot of people would've quit instantly instead of waiting to see what they were going to do. A whole 6 weeks I have to sit around and force myself to login and do stuff because I don't need/want to pull on rerun banners and the event is just….bad. Their money isn't hurting, that's shown in their sales demographics.

With that out of the way, I completely agree with a couple things. If you sign an NDA, you deserved to have them come after you. For those who are just making content or spreading information about things that Mihoyo fucked up and made public, it's bullshit that they are going after them as well.

Their marketing team is terrible and has been since before the launch of the game. I want to continue playing this so badly but they are making it hard with these bad events and not giving us anything new. A new unit every 3 weeks isn't enough to keep it going imo. Now that isn't even a thing as we are having rerun banners #2 and #3 all in the same patch.

  18. "fair gaming environment"… clearly that is not fair from such people to leak stuff, but a fair gaming environment in my opinion is an environment with more free banner rolls and stuff. XD And of course less hacks…

  19. Interstingly coming to the topic, you could do a comparison video on the different gacha systems, comparing genshin with ffbe , wotv , arknights , a lot of things. i did not see anyone doing a thorough analysis of this in a comparison type video and you have played a lot of these kind of games. I am sure you can pull something off there. At least i would like to see a thourogh comparison 😀
