Spirit Blossom Yasuo – League of Legends Art Blast / Behind the Scenes (Animation)

Here is a bit of a behind-the-scenes look at Spirit Blossom Yasuo! I give a brief look at the model, textures, and its rig before jumping into the animation work I did for Yasuo’s recall. Although it’s not completely comprehensive, I tried to include my thought processes during all the stages of animating, describing things to look out for and the focus for each phase. It’s really fun seeing how things transform over time! Hopefully some of this is insightful and interesting to you!

  1. i know i shouldn't compare myself to other artists, but as a fledgeling artist who is just about to start a game artist course i am supremely intimidated

  2. Just wow!

Ever since Covid, I've been getting back into animation seriously to try hone my skills as an animator and hopefully build a better portfolio. I'd always been fascinated by some of the animations in League and Yasuo and Cassio's new Spirit Blossom skins were definitely a big thing for me (Their recalls are just so godarn gorgeous). I decided to do some research and found some cool work from the Wild Rift team, it made me want to look if the league 3d models were available anywhere (Which obviously I couldn't find LOL, it's reasonable since they're company properties anyway) and use them to do some silly stuff, like have Cassiopeia crush a turret like a constrictor snake! During my research though, little did I know I stumbled on a WHOLE article just popped out of nowhere on artstation, including your work and video. What timing! I'm still incredibly thrilled about your video and how throughout it is, you've covered all of your steps and that's something I was struggling with, I had trouble remembering how to properly polish animations. Then I've looked through your channel some more, a gold mine! Your work is very inspiring and at the same time, incredibly helpful.

Big props to your incredible work and I can't wait to see more and learn from you! Thank you for sharing your stuff!

  4. Godly animation aside, your video editing/graphic design/motion graphics skills are seriously good!! Not many animators have that taste for good design, lord knows I don't! Really enjoying your videos 🙂

  6. Great artwork! But the only thing I am curious about is the constraint hierarchy between Yasuo’s drawing animation and the left hand of the right hand scabbard.
