Shadowlands Beta: Is Kyrian Rogue REALLY that good?

So Kyrian is considered the BIS covenant for a lot of classes/specs, and this is true for all 3 specs of rogue…. but is it really the Kyrians that are BIS, or just a lone, overtuned soulbind character?

  1. UPDATE: Lol I TOLD you guys. xD New video about Pelagos = Nerfed same day I mention it needs to be. I'll be simming and testing to see if the change was enough to make it in-line with all the other options available to us.

    This is going to be a REALLY big comment, because a couple folks brought up how I could put the numbers out there for you all to see exactly how much DPS these covenants were all averaging. So, here is the notes I was working on while putting this video together! These numbers are based on an Outlaw Rogue of 195 Item level with NO Legendaries, using the Count the Odds conduit and the Covenant specific conduit in each situation, both at rank 1. The numbers aren't exactly SUPER important, more so the % difference between them as the raw DPS value will change with item level and legendaries and higher ranked conduits and stuff.

    KYRIAN
    Pelagos = 4068

    Kleia = 3883

    Mikanikos = 3889

    avg 3946

    VENTHYR
    Nadjia = 3945

    Theotar = 3887

    Draven = 3798

    avg 3876

    NECROLORDS
    Marileth = 3840

    Emeni = 3932

    Heirmir = 3838

    avg 3870

    NIGHT FAE
    Korayn = 3923

    Niya = 3988

    Dreamweaver = 3941

    avg 3950

    Highest = Pelagos, 4068

    Lowest = Heirmir, 3838

    5.7% DPS loss between specific soulbind/covenant choice with covenant specific conduit

    In same covenant
    (Worst in DPS versus best in DPS)

    Kyrian 4.4% difference between Mikanikos and Pelagos

    Venthyr 3.7% difference between Draven and Nadjia

    Necrolord 2.4% difference between Heirmir and Emeni

    Night Fae 1.7% difference between Dreamweaver and Niya

    Sorry that this video ended up a bit chattier than normal, hopefully the segmented portions help if you want to skim through the video for certain topics. ^^;

    So with that article wowhead posted just yesterday showing the disparity of how many classes/specs recommend Kyrian as your 'BiS', I figured I'd show you folks exactly why and exactly by how MUCH it is the best by. Honestly for the most part, the covenant soulbinds are all pretty darn even for rogues, with the exception of our still overtuned Pelagos. Other than him, the other 2 soulbind characters are pretty much dead even with all the other ones of most of the other covenants, though each covenant does have one that is slightly stronger than the rest. Pelagos, however, is just too high compared to any other soulbind in the game.

    I hope this helps you all understand exactly why and by how much he is 'better' for now, but of course now that I made this video I have basically guaranteed they will fix him in todays build so let's see if my magic works. ^^ lol Have a great day, everyone!

  2. Numbers are much better perceived visually, so I would humbly suggest that you add them into your video somewhere when you are talking about comparative DPS for example. Even as a plain white text overlay, like you are doing with your other points.
    I would prefer Let go of the past if it functioned either as entirely passive static buff (I don't even want to see its icon in buff tray) or as periodically fluctuating buff like Enchanter's Flow for mages.

  3. Our boy back at it. Thank you for the time keeping us informed :). Feels bad going kyrian but for best chance in content looks like we'll be donning angel wings. Move over paladins

  4. The real problem is that only with pelagos you can choose soulbind dps traits and potency conduit. In all other covenant soulbind this not happening. I dont understand the resason of dps soulbind traits are not conneted to potency conduits

  5. Honestly Pelagos is the only thing attractive about kyrian…I still fail to believe how any rogue can enjoy the actual ability…I’m always overshooting it on my assass it’s absolute terrible lol and everyone said it was awful prior to it’s buff…however nothing has changed with the ability besides a slight damage buff and pelagos and all of a sudden kyrian is the way to go? Lol it’s still a boring useless ability which I’m always overshooting especially during my toxic blade Window with more crit. Idk why they didn’t just scrap the whole match combo point ability it’s so garbage. They can just switch out one of the stat boost abilities in the tree so you can’t have 2 plus the 2 combat pot slots. Btw still waiting on assass buffs 😂

  6. Let go of the past reminds me of Legion-Survival Hunter.
    Where you build and kept 4 stacks of moknathal up ^^''
    I personally like ''Buff''' classes / specs, Like old Enha-shaman 🙂
