Albedo Is Not "A Must Pull" | Opinions, Math, & Builds | Genshin Impact Math



So Christmas is over and Jinx finally has the time to put together a video on our thoughts on Albedo the New 5 star in Genshin Impact. Well after many hours testing, crunching math, trying out many Albedo Team Comps and Albedo builds, and discussing with LOTS of other theory crafters, we find ourselves in a strange place.

See, Albedo is a GOOD UNIT especially if you want a flexible cheap deeps unit that can fit into many different team compositions in Genshin Impact. However he’s not Over powered busted MUST PULL THIS UNIT level of power. Which makes it hard to wholeheartedly recommend him when you could be saving primos for when Venti comes back or in case any new 5 stars in Genshin end up being busted OP powerlevel as well.

He is the most BALANCED 5 star they have ever put out in Genshin. And this is good and healthy for the game, it also means it’s up to you to decide if he is worth your Primogems or not. The best we can do is arm you with knowledge on his strengths and weaknesses and let you decide if he is a good choice for your individual needs.

However Bennett is on this banner and he IS MUST PULL OP power level. So maybe pull for him anyway, Cons 0 and Cons 1 are the levels you should aim for if pulling for Bennett.

    We do REALLY like Alfredo and do think his release power level is healthy for the game. However when so many of our viewers have so little primogems to spare for pulling new units, it's hard to whole heartedly recommend a "balanced" unit when you could be saving for over powered ones like Venti or possible future 5 stars.
    That being said Bennett IS A MUST PULL UNIT and is on the banner so maybe get a C0/C1 Bennett and if you pull albedo in the mean time he is a VERY GOOD UNIT.
    We hope we did a good job presenting his strengths and weaknesses so that YOU have the information you need to make an informed decision on whether or not he is worth pulling for your unique situation and needs.

    EDIT: So a lot of peeps seem confused why the ICD reset aka the "double blossom" tech isn't as good as was originally thought.
    Well we will make a more in depth video about it, but the TL;DR is that its not necessarily nearly as much dmg increase as you may think. When you reset the CD on the blossoms you aren't actually "adding" more blossoms, you're shifting up the timeline of the expected blossoms that are already going to happen.

    Yes you can deal an instant 2 blossoms of dmg. However, the first blossom was already going to happen anyway so its not any added dps. The second blossom was also still going to happen, it's just happening maybe 0.5-1.5 seconds faster than before. This is still valuable because over enough iterations you are adding more guaranteed blossoms of dmg, and making damage happen slightly faster is still valuable, but it is not NEARLY as good as peeps think it is when they see an immediate BIG BURST of dmg. Even though those damage instances were going to already happen anyway, they just happened a second earlier or so.

    This is a bigger problem when you aren't doing really clean micro to make sure you're doing the swap ICD reset AS SOON as the last blossom procced.
    For examples sake lets say you theoretically proc blossoms every 2 seconds with a fish birb EC setup or something to maximize procs. This would be the theoretical max turret dmg from Alfredo.
    If the last blossom instance happened 1 second ago then you switch to alfredo, then spend maybe 0.5 seconds or so casting the E and then attacking, all you've done is moved up the next blossom by 0.5 seconds. That next blossom is happening at 1.5 seconds from the last one instead of 2.0 seconds. You shifted the timeline of expected blossoms up by 0.5 seconds.
    This dmg SEEMS good because its an immediate burst you made happen, but in reality it was already going to happen in 0.5 seconds.
    It would take 4 ICD Reset swaps to equal 1 more blossoms worth of dmg, which in this case is would be 16 seconds at fastest swaps possible so 9 blossoms vs 8. That's only a 12.5% increase with 4+ seconds of field time taken up. You also get the initial burst of tap E dmg too and the A1 dmg, but that might not be that much especially on a def focused build.
    Vs using those 4+ field time seconds on a carry or on better burst swap units. The Tap E + A1 is probably a lot less than basically any other swap units potential burst dmg in that 1+ second swap.

    Still need to do more math to figure out how "worth it" this would be though., it's dependent on A LOT of factors.

    Now if you are paying very close attention to the blossoms happening on screen and swap as soon as you see it, with human reaction time + cast time + swap times you're probably saving 1 to 1.5 ish seconds on the timeline. And potentially more if your average proc rate for blossoms is every 2.5 or 3 seconds instead of 2. This is a bigger gain and will get you another blossom every 2 swaps or so. This is better, but does require you to make sure you are swapping AS SOON as you see the last blossom proc. Which is much more intensive micro.
    But does mean that with very intentional play this tech might have more potential. Because the Tap E + A1 dmg is actually added dmg and scales off Atk, using swap ICD Resets does favor atk heavy builds more. So Atk ult bot builds might want to aim to do them more often when they have the window to do so because other units are on CD. Probably, still need to calc more.

    If you aren't intentionally watching for blossom procs and very quickly swap resetting when they happen, the gains are looking rather minimal overall and certainly A LOT LESS than they feel like bc you see big numbers popping up instantly.
    If you just swap whenevs, chances are you aren't saving much if any time on the timeline and not getting a big increase on your blossom output vs the blossom output you would have gotten not swapping and just letting the turret do its thing.
    In fact if mistimed, swapping can actually ADD time to the next blossom due to the cast time of resetting E + attacking, vs just attacking normally with other units and triggering the next blossom normally. The time window for this is pretty smol tbh, but very possible to have happen accidentally if you swap ICD reset without paying attention to when the last blossom was.

    Hope this explanation was understandable, its kinda hard to explain the whole "expected timeline shifting" concept without visual timelines and such. Will make video on it and stuff.

  2. Thanks for the informative video! The only complaint I have is it was kind of annoying that you kept calling him Alfredo. The first time it was cute, but every single time after that was unnecessary and distracting… just my 2 cents.

  3. You know what pisses me off about this banner?

    . . . I CAN'T PULL FOR C1 BENNETT!!

    I hit around 70 pulls trying to get C4 Xinyan on Zhongli banner (got Diluc before the 70 pulls) and since I want Ganyu, I can't pull or I'll mess up my pulls! I hate it so muuuuch!!

  4. My alfredo actually have a very, very steady energy gen with every procs of transient blossom. Considering it's a skill damage proc isnt it supposed to generate an energy particle per proc?

    Edit: after i tried myself a bit more, it generates particle at least 3/5 times the blossom procs. Not counting c1 energy generation as it doesnt show up as a particle

  5. Personally I want to build him as my main dps/carry ( yes I know that he is way better as a support but I want to do it that way ) and I'm thinking on doing the following :

    Weapon : I got the Summit Shaper which is the weapon on the banner for him, since he gets a 4% atk increase that can be stacked up to 5 times and can happen every 0.3s if I am not mistaken, also the damage buff is increased if he is being protected by a shield.

    Artifact set : I'll be using the Retracing Bolide 4 piece, is it the best set ? Probably not, I want to use this one because I want to see how much higher his damage is with this set because he gets a 40% dmg increase when protected by a shield and also he will be with another geo unit so he will get an extra buff to his damge with the shield.

    Stats : I'll be focusing on atk%, geo damage bonus and crit damage on the main stats, for the sub stats I'll try to run atk%, crit rate, crit damage and def% since the E does scale from def after all.

    This is just theory crafting at this point since I am yet to get the artifacts with the stats I want

  6. Hey guys for all of you that are wondering about "will this guy go well with my geo character that i already use/like?" the answer would be, yes.
    Zhongli gets ult spam, Great regen for Noelle and Ning (Nings charges pretty fast tho but its worth it because when the new geo resonance happens, Albedo pretty much fits with any geo)
    You get alot of reaction cristals from albedos E so when the shield buff happens you might get a bit more of use for them shields.
    Zhongli if after the buff gets what was shown youll get both nice cover with his shield and also extra 20% damage while having it on, wich makes him look very insteresting so if you wanna use him in the future and you want the geo resonance plus like albedo its a no brainer, pull for him.

  7. I was wondering if you guys considered a few things as possible strengths for him such as:
    – Constant Crystallize reactions making the Retracing Bolide set more viable for example, on Keqing
    – Crystallize shields perhaps keeping the Serpent Spine's passive up longer or in generally being able to absorb damage and keep DPSing rather than dodge
    – Abyss Floor 12 will give Geo damage bonus

    Looking at the past few Abyss blessings I feel like it's not gonna be just about the damage numbers forever. Geo and more defensive options might become more and more useful as time goes on. Thoughts?

  8. After playing a bit with the simulation spreadsheet, a maxed out Albedo does CRAZY amount of damage with his E … and still a very decent Q.
    How much damage would he need to do to be considered a "Must pull" ? I wonder if there's an answer to that.

  9. Two things about the Jinx &Tuner Albedo video.

    They discuss his cons based on his damage scaling and his energy RNG.
    I agree with their points in terms in single enemy, but I never heard them talk about the effectiveness of Albedo's AOE. For those floors where there are multiple enemies his dmg easily scales 2X -3X
    As for the rng of energy, the same AOE effect applies, more enemies grants more stacks of energy orbs (but I think MC geo grants 3-4 orbs off his skill)
    maybe they did test it out and not mention it. But I was waiting for them to talk about both of these points.

  10. one suggestion is that it might not be the best to compare a c0 banner 5 star to c6 4 stars because a c0 banner 5 star is guaranteed after like ~160 pulls but a c6 4 star is not

  13. Would love to see a video on how to build venti! You always talk about his insane damage and usability, but having him myself I only really see the usability side with his grouping capability :/ not sure what I’m doing wrong.

  14. Got Albedo, now i'm rushing to build him, also got fischl c6, bennet c1, sucrose c4 and i'm at ~30 rolls for my next pitty.
    Id say it was a success.
    The only thing is that i have Venti so i have no where to use sucrose in the moment…

  15. Incredibly grateful (Genshin) viewer here with a question. I don't wanna blow smoke up your ass–despite the inclination to do so–because I understand this is what you are doing for a living and your partner depends on it as well. Critical feedback seems to be something I am missing in all the comments, since most of your feedback consists of thank yous, requests (important for current or future donors), or disagreements with statements. I just wanna provide my opinion/critique on the actual structure and voice my concern as a relatively minor-donor who will probably continue to support your guys' work regardless.
    Where's all the videos mentioned over the past month-two months "in the works/pipeline/next videos"? Example: In depth statistically-backed opinions for Razor vs Xiangling. I know there was a mental health/birthday break (and fully support it!) and am seriously forever grateful for the F2P math done here. But from a practical standpoint, the service you provide for monetization had a somewhat expected approach and tempo. Is that no longer sustainable? If it isn't sustainable for you anymore, that's fine, I'm sure everyone here understands and will take what we can get. I just want to know what to expect looking forward instead of incredibly vague and brief statements mostly from Tuner. The change of flow is drastic; over three weeks or so with just single analysis/helpful video pertaining to statistics and not relating to Zhongli drama/the monthly 5 star/speculation based on patch notes for live/1.3 buffs. That shift does demonstrate a possible likelihood that the structure is changing to more of a meta commentary with math as opposed to a math heavy approach on all things concerning F2P that resembles a structured approach vs reactionary statistics.

  16. Have you ever realized the fact that Bennett is the only member in his Adventure's team so that he has a lot of utilities and has to fill in many roles? The same for Noelle who is trying to be helpful to everyone in every cases.

  17. I was saving primogems for ayaka, I spent every single one on this banner as soon as I saw the 4 stars and managed to get a C5 bennet and C2 sucrose (and alfredo unfortunately, but he looks fun at least)
