Today I talk about the viability of moonkin in Shadowlands and some of the newer stuff prior to the release of the expansion this month. I am looking forward towards playing Balance Druid and really am stoked for it!

love the hoodie π
yoyoyo lmao
nooooooo plz not venthyr I want to PvP ffs
did some m+ in prepatch and it feels awful to me to just chain starfalls and spam only Wrath or Starfire for 10s periods. RIP boom

You should put the link to those sims in the description! Throw the love to the person that made them!

The spec feels really clunky to me now. I'm not a fan of using lunar spells to get solar eclipsed and visa versa but I can adapt to that. My biggest issue is the starsurge charges and when to use that 9th charge entering you into an eclipse state since it is a shorter eclipse than the standard ones and overwrites the one you're currently in. If that were smoothed out a bit boomkin would feel better but it just seems like we have too many things to keep track of now and any decision I make, even if it's the right one, feels wrong.
I mained two super fun specs in Legion: Elemental Shaman and Boomkin. Now I absolutely hate both specs. GJ Blizzard. Enjoying Survival Hunter for now:-) And ofc I have a Sub Rouge ready if things go live as I expect.
The main thing I hate about current moonkin is alternating eclipses… in a dungeon, being forced to use solar eclipse when I really want to be spamming cleave with starfire just feels awful.
Nice not able to play the covenant that suits the class the best if i want to be competetive …
I donβt even play balance but I like hearing Tettles take on things and his cat coming into frame every now and then
I really wanted to play my druid in SL, and I hated eclipse at first, but I've been playing it and I'm feeling "ok" with it… but I pvp, raid and do M+, and I enjoy both balance and resto. Granted it's not mythic raiding or M20+… but it feels super sucky to have covenants all over the place, and none of them really line up across multiple specs and types of content.
Necro Cricle is inevitable, you know it xD
Moonkin is absolute shit now lol god it feels terrible (as in rotation-wise, not dps-wise)
Shout out to the Fairly Odd Parents hoodie.
Sorry….I spaced out about halfway through that sim page.
:b: uffs
11:50 – Cat wandering into the room… totally made my day π
Moonkins ! im gonna be a Venthir Moonkin <^,v,^>
I don't think the terrocards have moonkin in the deck for tettles in shadowlands
ill be so devastated if Nightfae isnt the best. story and zone just suit Druid so much better.
I love new moonkin so much that I am proudly rerolling for priest.
I think Nightfae will perform much better in the raid then expected. At least when I tried Venthyr during the Raidtesting it happend so often for me that I had to move especially the last 3-5 sek of CL with the Venthyr Buff which made it so worse. But we will see what Balancing changes will be performed after the first heroic week and I think many will change their covenents afterwards.
I donβt even play Druid, but man, I always watch bc you get to the point and know your shit. Telling it like it is. Cheers.
On the upside the feathers make the bench more comfortable π
This expansion just has some of the worst design philosophy, this covenant lock is just dog shit.
Rip boomkin. Thanks so much Blizzard. A change nobody asked for.
Boomy is crazy fun in Prepatch. Feels okay on beta, nothing amazing but still decent.
if you want to pvp too id say venthyr is out of the window and not even considered sucks to lose some aoe even if you love m+ its just not an option ..
I love the unpruning and misc changes, but the basic rotation really has me concerned. It's so rigid and so well… repetitive. π To be clear I don't think empowerments were awesome either, but you made more small choices for the fights with it, slightly. Right now all you can really do is a simple choice how you want the eclipse to flip. It just gave a bit more illusion of variety for me.
One thing I would love to see, is New moon baseline again, but the Starsurges would accumulate extra damage for Moon rather than the current eclipse effect. I would keep the talent, so the baseline was only Full moon, and if you talented it you'd have a trio all gaining a damage buff from starsurge (maybe until eclipse swap) creating a triple wallop of sorts, from one press but over say 3 seconds (like devouring plague more or less.) I think that would be a way more fun use of the budget than the extra damage modifier. Anyway, I had to add my crazy idea somewhere, sorry about that.
Im goin nightfae no matter what, ill make it work
I'm currently at "effective, but boring". The passive we gain for SS (SS empowers eclipse) is redundant with SL in terms of how it practically plays out. Should you dump SS at the beginning of eclipses? Yes. Do you? Yes. But what if- nope doesn't matter, dump it at the beginning. SL should be the talent you take that locks you into that play style, not a passive. I'd like to see that passive changed to "SS has a chance to make Wrath or Lunar Strike behave as though it were in eclipse when it's in the opposite eclipse (word this however you want)".
That would break up the repetition, make dumping SS at the beginning of eclipses optional and even less optimal in some situations, and give us some cleave in solar and some single target in lunar. It would also make non-stacking SF easier to digest in solar phases since you could dump it into SS with a hope of triggering an LS empowerment.
Idk, maybe I've read too much on all the beta changes etc that it ruined my expectations of the new expansion.
But I've never felt so conflicted about a expansion to the point I don't even want the expansion anymore because it feels like every choice you make for fun will be less for performance so I will feel bad for making a choice I like lore and gameplay wise.
For example I would love to go Night Fae for the lore but the ability for my class is clunky and boring, Venthyr has the best ability for me but I totally don't vibe with the lore, class fantasy and the ability is also boring. And the legendary that I would like to play seems really underperforming and a lot Legendaries that I liked got so much tuning that they are really boring now like "Has a chance to increase damage every 1 minute".
I guess the covenant info is now out of date following recent changes. Personally, I will be playing Boomkin in SL. I'm new to Boomkin and loving it in SL. I especially love that I can tank off-spec. The boomkin and bear covenants seem to be the same. I hope it stays that way π
