An Honest Discussion About Cyberpunk 2077 – PC General Impressions

It’s the big thing everybody is talking about, so I figured I’d talk about it too. Moreover, I brought in Sybsidian from the Triple S League, and my friend BlackPencilNinja to help me. THIS IS NOT A REVIEW. We are merely talking about the game. Also, we are focusing solely on the PC version of the game. We can not speak to the console versions aside from what we have heard in the news. Please be civil in the comments.

  1. Lol didn’t know you were talking to a friend. I jumped straight into beatboxing lol. You gotta be ready at any moment in case your friends start singing alone and need back up. I was looking tempo and everything lol.

  2. PC, i7, nvidia 970 4GB, 16 GB RAM. Plays fine. I don't have film grain or motion blur on, so maybe that's why things have been mostly… fine. There was one point when my voice gender changed. That was odd. But went back to a previous save and we were back to what I selected. I have had some random explosions in game. I'm not sure what causes it. But I suspect npcs might inadvertently be rolling over incendiaries.

  3. Hey, Max. I appreciate the fact that you brought Sybsidian and BlackPencilNinja in to talk with you. It's really nice to hear a civil discussion about the game amidst all of the toxic arguments going on throughout the Internet right now. Here are my general thoughts about the game:

    – The PC version does seem to be the most stable, although it is still buggy and sub-optimized. It looks like an early access game. There is something to be said for working with your PC and taking care of it, and how that will generally help in anything you do on the PC, but this does not negate the very prominent bugs that should not be happening.

    – The PS5 and Xbox Series X versions of the game are only slightly better than the PS4 and Xbox One X versions. However, all of them suffer from extreme framerate dips, abundant hard crashes, and game-breaking glitches. This kind of performance for a full-priced game is unacceptable.

    – The issue of textures "popping in" has indeed been seen in many games in the past. However, this does not excuse its continued presence in modern-day games, and especially not in a game that has been in development for so long. Issues of this sort should be worked out in beta versions of the game far before the launch date.

    – My major issue with this whole situation are the lies and misrepresentation perpetuated by CD Projekt Red, a company that had the full trust of a lot of gamers. The footage shown in the gameplay demos that they released are just not representative of the game whatsoever, and the fact that they put in so much effort to hide that fact through preventing reviewers from using their own gameplay footage in their reviews indicates that they were fully aware of this. That kind of shady and manipulative behavior is not excusable, no matter who's doing it.

    – That being said, I have respect for the developers who are responsible for the stories and character development in the game. It is in those things that Cyberpunk 2077 has the most value, in my opinion. It's not their fault for the crappy decisions of the management and marketing teams, and I wish more people would realize that.

I hope to see the game thrive and stabilize with future patches (and maybe the help of the modding community). It sounds like you've been very busy lately, so please remember to take care of yourself. I know when I'm working hard, I sometimes forget to take breaks. Cheers. 🙂

  4. Well, I'm glad this whole thing with Cyberpunk is exposing the honest reviewers compared to the ones trying to justify a terrible mess of a game so that they don't mess up their relationship with these studios (something these guys are doing btw in this vid). Even on PC, this game ain't what it's supposed to be. I'm looking at the footage in the background and what I'm seeing ain't looking that great either. Better than console? Sure, but it's still feels dead, stiff and clunky. Not a dynamic world full of life, a true next gen experience. Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Mankind Divided look and feel 10 times better and more alive than this game. GTA V on ps3 looks more alive and better than this game tbh and a game like Red Dead is leagues above this 2009 looking game. The police doesn't even have driving AI and the AI in general is terrible, people/NPC's walk en react super stiff (and don't have a schedule like in red dead , something the devs said would be in the game), the combat looks horrible, the driving looks lacking. The only thing that looks good is the art design and some of the music sound kinda cool.

But overall, this is a new Fallout 76.

  5. The "old consoles are 8 years old machines" excuse makes me sad. Yes, they are, and yet the games made for them run and look better than CP 2077. There are 8 years old games that look and run better than CP on PS4. And that is the issue.
Nobody is expecting miracles. They just want the game to run and look as if it was running on PS4.
Also, the store pages from PS4 and Xbox One storefronts should not contain screenshots that are not reflective of how the game looks on those systems. That's just false advertising.

  6. Wait a second… why I, MYSELF, have to be smart to fix the bugs and not ask for a refund instead??? The game was supposed to run it, it's not my fault if it's broken, don't try to do what the guy said, ask for your money back if you're not satisfied with the game, you're not forced to learn how to outsmart the bugs, to fix them it's job of CD projeck, I rather wait until the game is unstable than being annoyed with bugs…

  7. A Sony removed the game, company is reportedly having loss of 1bn. This games seems like a total loss in financial perspective, their is a great game in there but for now it isn't

  8. Ok so my character exploded twice just from touching stuff. Every glass or bottle i come near shatters and it keeps crashing mid mission, when i cant save cause i am in combat. How a game gets released with such problems. And i am not mentioning the other glitches that happen all the time but dont ruin the game….
