The thing with asking these players at the top level is that they represent a small proportion of the player base. The majority of the player base are casuals who drop in maybe every other day and play ranked more passively. Adding this function would just make the 1% who can definitely afford it happy (before they find something else to complain about), deter any new players or casual players from getting into the game competitively, and it may not even stop hackers. All in all I would expect a small decrease in hacking as the more serious hackers would find a way around it, a decrease in player base and a decrease in the game's representation. Doesn't have my vote.
Okay so supposedly this works and frustrates cheaters out of ranked, what happens when they suddenly decide to flock into pubs? Smooth move Respawn.
10 dollars in my country is good for a whole day's meal or two. third world players would "love" this.
I think it all comes down to how they implement it. I definitely don't think low income/younger players would suffer from this that much. I think that's just a caveat. Definitely think it would deter cheaters and make them change the strategy. I agree that it needs to be full proof though. There cant be a bug that lets them get around paying. If there is it has to be patched immediately. However, With things like audio, disconnecting, and other known bugs that have been in the game, i'm not hopeful for anything being full proof.

I dont know how hard it is to make a game that cant be hacked..? Ask some wizards to work it out ea lol. Also u cant buy in game red currency which come with level ups right? Just make ranked cost like 20k per season, it would be some work that hackers would have to do before they can even enter ranked queue. AND they would most likely be caught and banned BEFORE they can reach the 20k red currency if they use hacks to get it. Just a thought.
That would also bring more to reach for cuz ppl would have to stay active and earn those 20k each season if they want to keep playing ranked. And ofc it would be one thing to actually spend those red currency… Im sure im not the onlyone with 500k+ red currency just gathering dust 😀
I've been playing since season 3 and I've still not bought the battle pass. Because I can't. At this point ive put too much time in ranked. And I'm not up to switch to another game like league, fortnite,Val etc. I think this is a bit biased of me but they should make it so that you need to reach a certain level in the free battle pass,let's say 50 to get access to ranked. Don't know if hackers can by pass that. Or even give people like us access to it and the bad apple who hack, when they will get banned then have to pay or grind to that specific level.
Edit: why is the bottom line for playing ranked level 10( like the actual account level) Think it should be something like 100/150. Because let's be honest most can't aim at that level.
So we are going to pay for EA's lazyness. Nice. Time to quit apex.

I really don't think that it will affect the cheaters much and for sure you will see an decrease in 25% in player base. EA cannot retain any card info as per privacy laws and all they have is a name which could be fake and a fake phone number. Hence this seems more of a business revenue growth rather than stopping cheaters (opinion). Also, cheaters seriously would have spent more money and time so a mere $10 won't stop them.

They spend money for hacks /: they won’t care to spend money in ranked, and apex devs won’t ban or pay as much attention to ranked players!

My idea is more complex, theoretically a lot harder to come up with but hear me out; Introducing: Apex Referee. A bot(s) which sits in every lobby and it’s only job is to analyze the Logic of each and every single kill happening in a match and the events leading up to said kill, basically a speed, wall, infinite mag and aim hack specialist…
Money hungry
They dont need to directly charge for ranked, but they could make ranked avaiable only for people who spent at least $10 in the game. So, if a hacker makes a new account, he will have to spend $10 in the store and if he gets a ban, he will lose money. I think this is a way to hurt hackers and not hurt who plays by the rules.
Or maybe just make it so that only players above level 100 can play ranked, problem solved
I mostly play ranked, so I will be deleting Apex if this does happen. I'll have to start looking for other games.
At least offer us like a legendary skin if we have to pay for ranked
Hello. I sincerely think that they are only seeing it for countries like the US or some that are doing well economically. I live in Argentina. Since the inflation and the devaluation of the Argentine peso, paying 15 dollars (no matter how little) ends up hurting your pocket, and it is not only here, almost all Latin American countries are the same. They should look for another way, for example the way to compare the battle pass to play seems to me the most sensible.
I hope they dont do this with console u dont get hackers on console as u do in pc
thank god I deleted this game last night. I started the month the game came out and have 11,577 games played. the matchmaking is already garbage. this just means I made the right decision deleting the game.. the game started out AMAZING and I got to watch it get a LOT worse.
So fucking stupid if they charge for ranked games on a FREE game….corporate greed at it's finest. Of course they take into the account of "some pro" over majority of us that hate it…imagine having to pay hundreds or thousands of dollars just to reach pred, this game about to be ruined soon
they are lit taking advantage of our addiction to this game & and the shitty hackers situation just to make and force more money, if i were u id stop playing this game, you think i would pay to play a game with shitty servers and no audio what so ever? or pay so that pros grief me everytime i join a lobby? not a fun game im honestly done with apex if they do make it pay to play.
To be fair I think playing 20-25 matches is a better idea. Like how Valorant does, because then there's a chance to catch cheaters before getting into ranked. And Also to be safe they can't leave the match to speed it up. They have to die by player or win for the match to count :))

I'm on console, and as ILootGames does, I just spend a few days grinding to masters every split and that's it. Since I'm on console I have yet to come across a cheater, but I think it would be a good thing for paying to play ranked. Just because I don't deal with it, doesn't mean it's not happening. And 10 bucks is nothing.
if you wanted to make ranked pay to play it should give you apex packs after you go up a tier like if you were bronze 2 and got to bronze 1 you would get a rare or common apex pack, and the rarity would escalate the higher your tier, I completely agree with having it pay to play if this is included
This could be good but I don’t think it should be a monthly subscription it should be from now on any new accounts would need to pay a buy in price to ply ranked and any other accounts that have bought a battle pass or such should already be included
