Apex Legends Is Making Big Changes! Gold Armor Fixed, Tap Strafing Removed & Aim Assist Changes?

Hey guys and welcome back to another Apex Legends video! There hasn’t been a ton of news recently but there were some interesting topics I wanted to cover in today’s video.

First off we have a change coming to Gold Armor where you will not have to hold down a button to switch to a different armor type. This should be arriving in the next patch which is expected next Tuesday.

We also have some news regarding controller inputs, as one of the developers gave his feedback on controller playing in Apex. Finally, we are going to be talking about why Tap Strafing is being removed from Apex Legends, and whether the developers will also be nerfing Aim Assist on PC.

This was explained by Respawn JayBiebs on his Twitter account last week.

  1. Hope you found today's video helpful! Will hopefully have some more info regarding the next patch later this week.

Let me know what you've been up to in Apex recently or if you have been chilling on other games

  2. aim assist is busted af compared to tapstrafing got a total of like 10 hours on controller in the last 4 years of playing games and aim assist is what got me my first 20k and 4k badge… 10 hours on controller vs thousands on mnk straight up just feel like cheating. with tapstrafing being removed I guess It's time to swap to legal aimbot, I mean controller :^)

  3. i support any buffs to controller players so they can keep up with MaK users. But when you start nerfing MaK users to weaken them to compensate for controllers lack of control. i start having issues. The game should be evolving, not devolving

  4. People who complain about aim assist don't know what it actually is. It doesn't help people zero in on your head and land every shot. It literally only helps stabilize your aim since you can't make fine and precise movements on controller like on mouse and keyboard. The window for it to trigger isn't even that large and it's still easy to over adjust, and it can sometimes hurt your accuracy.

  5. "They're removing Tap-strafing for MnK players, so they should nerf Aim Assist for Controller players" might be one of the dumbest things I've heard the Apex community say. Tap-strafing is an unintended technique that allows you to instantly turn a fight in your favor if used correctly. There was no real downside to ever doing it if you were able to. Since it was never intended, maps, legends, weapons, etc were never designed/balanced with it in mind, so it ends up completely breaking the game. Aim Assist is a small pull on your reticle when you're aiming within a certain "bubble" around an enemy. Aim Assist is far from flawless. It's completely disabled at any zoom above 3x, and is notorious for screwing people over by targeting a downed enemy instead of the one shooting at you. It's a fundamental part of controller gameplay, so that we can actually stand a chance against the ridiculous aim of a good MnK player. The game was designed with Aim Assist in mind, so Respawn were designing around it from the start. As such, it's far from game-breaking.

  6. I'm actually upset about the tap strafing, literally found out about it a month ago, put time into it practicing and now all of a sudden it gets removed from the game because of "lack of counterplay". I just hope it doesn't feel like running through mud after the patch.

  7. How about on controller when you drop something out of your inventory instead of being the thing you want to pick up it's the thing you just dropped so you have to move and it takes forever that's killed me so many times

  8. From someone who has used both console and PC controller and MnK genuinely, aim assist is game dependant, and for apex the aim assist has actually screwed me on console at times and gotten me some kills, I'm very aware and I notice the slight tugs/stickiness my crosshair would do while ADSd but I do understand how it works so I did have a relatively low ADS speeds while I had an extremly high maxed out normal look speed, but that aside it still tugged to anothe rperson and got me killed while I tried to kill a lower HP person who was firing at me while someone else was trying to move out of the way. Aim assist in general is over powered people just don't want to put in the time/effort to get good without it IMO. Fortnite's AIM assit for example is redicuously over powered, I felt cheating use it ever I always checked my settings on that game before i loaded in to make sure i had set it to 0% (admittedly i'd sometimes be down bad and go crank it upto 100% to get some W's/kills just too down bad ;-; ). Plus aim assist truthfully will always be a budget aim lock with restrictions to myself personally. COD's aim assist was/is (haven't played COD in a hot minute so not too sure on the current ones) use to be the biggest abuseable for free kills on controller, Aim Down (hold up for a brief moment) then hold the fire button easy headshot's and consistant enough wasn't exactly as 100% as simple as i'm putting it here you do require to atleast pre aim the person and what not but still, that's pretty much how it went, aim down, flick up shoot, you've headshot alot of the time. At the very least you hit a high enough shot that any sniper 1 shot kill. Like I said though dunno about the newer cods. If I ever play a game on controller then isntantly jump onto the mouse, I feel personally the difference, I don't feel my gun sticking to players, I feel myself having to track players, when i'm on controller I don't have to track players, I don't have to aim as much. IMO aim assist for consoles/controllers should only be a thing in an increidbly casual enviroment not a competative as I don't feel like i'm trying to aim anymore on a controller most of the time.

  9. If they removed tap strafing way earlier this wouldn't be an issue but they left up for quite some time you can't really blame some of the player base to be disappointed and AA has always been strong a slight balance to it wouldn't really hurt other than players needing to aim a little better

  10. I really just want them to remove the teabagging emote prompt and the my ultimate is ready prompt. I am sure most people understand that the emote button makes you emote already.

  11. Dude, literally not hard to do your research about tap strafing. Just check MokeySniper's videos about it. Literally not hard at all, yet you still mess up, what is tap-strafing.
To add to all this, turns out it is possible to tap strafe on controller too, but it is very very hard.

  12. Aim assist can hurt more than help lol try knocking down someone in front of you then switching to his friend after… the aim still focuses on the guy knocked instead of the guy standing

  13. tbh i wish they just didn't touch tap-strafing because then they might have to tweak aim assist on pc and it becomes a larger debate between controller and MnK. Tap-Strafing is a high skill mechanic considering so many people even on pc had no idea about it. It added a skill gap that separates the pro players and the average player.

  14. i think people that believe tap strafe removal is a bad thing should consider watching the video on the notorious Phoon from CS Source. tap strafing is extremely similar to bhopping in source engine. and the power of bhopping is extremely powerful in the right hands. there is a reason you cannot bhop in CSGO.

  15. man I've been doing tapstrafe for a couple months now and It is just so much fun to use …I have escaped from a few tough situations thanks to using tapstrafe around corners or so but nothing crazy. And it has won me a 1v1 gunfight only like once, because there just are not that many situations in a fight where u can use it effectively. You are 99.9% of the times better of just aim at the target and shoot instead of doing some crazy stuff in the air and start shooting afterwards.

  16. With pc players saying if tap strafing is removed aim assist should be nerfed it would just give mouse and keyboard more of an advantage over controller than they all ready do pc has much more flexibility and I don’t think that controller haveing a small help with aiming really matters mouse and keyboard players need to know that they have so much more ways to move and aim with there mouse and keyboard than a controller player does

  17. At this point would be stupid to change the the button layout due to what you mentioned, I don't think they can do that, I don't feel they can slowly kill control aim assist either, the pros will find it slightly off but us noobs will get slaughtered lol

  18. I think it's a great choice. But pc still has so much better movement options amd stuff, I really don't see why aim assist should be nerfed on console. When playing with a controller in a pc lobby, I get outplayed almost every gunfight…

  19. But why remove it, they could literally just disable binding W or Space to the scroll wheel. Respawn devs for some reason always take an extreme route with balancing either too much or almost none at all. I usually do a lot of half baked tap strafes and they actually help me out a lot and I don't have anything bound to my scroll wheel other than weapon change
